hey mistwalker,

Nice looking knife, although I'm not sure about the scales. What is the material?

Thanks Doc. They are Kraton. It is reeeaally grippy but I had them bolted on so that they could be replaced if damaged or just disliked. I used four bolts instead of three to do away with the "pivot point" to keep them from loosening so easily during rough use.

so according to your specs sheet it is 1095? is that true?

that front pouch on the sheath looks like it'll fit a nice altoids tin survival kit.

There was some discussion on that later after the design was submitted and at this point I am still unsure if it is 1095 or 1070 but it is hi-carbon and a magnet sticks to it really good.

It would probably hold one of the small Altoids tins, I'll find out later. I haven't messed with the sheath much yet....I did design the knife so that it should fit the Spec Ops combat master sheath and thought I might order one for it later. I've heard a lot of good things about them from friends.

Mistwalker congrats on getting another one of your designs made. I know I have my Breeden warthorn that you designed and absolutely love it! now knowing you designed this one I will probally pick it up.As you know I highly respect your opinion and reviews on knives for wilderness survival.

Hey Jca, you probably wouldn't be able to tell too much of a difference between the 1070 and the 1095, in retrospect. I'd probably dremel the thumb ramp and finger grooves off to make it more carving friendly.

Thanks man, actually this one was done up before the Warthorn design. It's been in the works for nearly a year. I am looking forward to getting this one out and see how I did with it, but I'm wanting to show it to a few friends in different parts of town before I take it out and scratch it all up :o

That's what I'm thinking too. After learning a few things and having some good experiences with 1070 part of me hopes that's what it is.

I think I'm gonna get a couple and do different mods to them. A couple of mods one one of them based on recent experiments, and a swedge on another just because I like how it looks on paper :) .

right on MW... that's very cool man.. that looks like a nice design and a solid user...:)

SWEDGE! Ok I got it. False edge type deal. You might could take a little curve on the back like your war thorn knife

Thanks Mike, I hope it will handle the rough use I intended it for...I'll find out soon I guess.

Congratulations! !

Thanks Rocky!

Yep, that will be a part of the mods on one for sure, maybe both. I've gotten used to using it for making fatwood fuzz.

G'day Brian

Congratulations on having your design skills recognised by a manufacturer :thumbup:

Any more designs in the pipe line?

Kind regards
Mick

That's an excellent idea. I like it much better than hidden tang. I suppose a person could order extra ones or, perhaps, different ones, say, like Micarta? Kind of like KaBar is doing with Becker.
