Finally- the official news on Ashokan 2010!

I look forward to listening to JD, I met him a the NY knife show this spring, he is incredibly talented and a nice guy!

Shifting topics for a moment, how many culinary types are coming? I have something I would like to share with about 4-5 guys who do some serious cooking or are chefs.

Talk to Mike Spangler - that's his gig!

Stacy,
I would be interested, I'm no professional, but cooking for 6 every night(5 of them are finicky and hardly ever agree) is sometimes challenging.
Thanks,
Del

Not sure if I'd qualify or not, used to be prep chef at a 4 star French, sometimes I'll get bored with normal food and spend a couple of hours throwing together a 6 cheese 5 mushroom lasagne, baking bread, or experimenting with new flavor combinations

Man, I'm not going to make it this year, pretty depressed about it but been spending way too much time traveling away from home. Have a dram for me and keep Mace and Spangler in line!

Page,

Just got home from Syracuse area! I totally didn't know you were there or I might have tried to stop by. We were taking a vacation in Sylvan Beach area and my mother-in-law lived in Kirkville.

Anyhow, you all have fun and hope to see ya'll next year!

I used to do quite a bit of fancy cooking...less time for that nowadays so I'm just a serious eater :)

Glad you're going to make it this year Stacy!

Well, the last of the steel I've forged for the show at Ashokan is undergoing it's subcritical anneal right now. Tomorrow morning everything goes to the grinding shop to get precision ground....

I'd like to think I can rest now, but I know I still have way too much to do to get ready....

How are the rest of everybody's "pre Ashokan projects" going?

UPDATE: Here's the steel that I sent out to grinding this morning. Doesn't look like much here, but a good bit of it is mosaics :) I listed to the guys that wanted thinner stock too. This will all be 1/8" thick.

How are your daggers coming????
I worked on the handle today. It should be done in time this year....Assuming I come on the right week.

I have been trying to decide whether to bring last year's sword, or save it for next year - What do you think?

blade forged, heat treated, finalground ready for etch, handle rough shaped, wax turned for pommel, going to carve bolster wax after bollocks carved

If you don't bring the sword this year it will nag you to get your registration in and actually schedule next year's Ashokan on your calendar because you know we will be eager to see it :D
