Hello everybody!

This is my first post here and because I've just started to learn about knives and I would like to buy very soon my first knife, I would like to have a suggestion from you that are already more expert and experienced.

I live in a country where every type of knife can be carried and my ONLY purpose of buying a knife is to be able to defend myself in the best way, when it could really not be avoided (hopefully never). So I'm looking for the best knife I could carry everyday with me, easy to conceal and the best for a fight.

I've to admit I'm kinda excited to talk about this, thanks!

If you are looking for a folder, an OTF or a wave opening will be my take
But the best would be a small fixed blade is even better
I like the Bradford guardian 3 at the moment and would like to get one soon

I would say go to the makers fixed blades for sale side, pick the one you like, and carry it with pride.

Many many options depending on your budget. Your options can range from cheapo gas station/flea market specials to 1000's of dollars for premium blades. BTW welcome aboard.

If you are looking for a folder, I also strongly recommend a knife with a wave feature. If you do not know what a knife with the waved feature is look up "Waved knife" in google and watch a video on how they are deployed.

I have some good options for recommendations, but I would have to know how much you would want to spend first of all.

For a decent price some of the best self defense folding pocket knives are probably the Spyderco Endura 4 Waved Version and the Spyderco Waved Matriarch.

Ultimately a concealed fixed blade is probably better for self defense. I like the SOCP Dagger from Benchmade. Spartan Blades makes a more expensive version of the SOCP dagger but honestly the one from Benchmade will do you just fine!

A small ( 9" in overall length or less ) fixed blade will be faster than any folder could ever be and the right one will provide great utility.

Personally I would buy my first knife as a utilitarian cutting tool like 90% of the world does, but regardless it's best to be intimately familiar with knives before ever thinking about carrying one for defense.

You live in the country
He said he lives in A country where all knives are allowed. As in, a different country than the US. Not "out in the country" as in, away from a city.

We have a whole subforum dedicated to using knives as weapons - Practical Tactical. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/practical-tactical.680/

G glo15 - I suggest a fixed blade knife or dagger specifically designed for combat or fighting, worn in a belt sheath if you are able to carry in a concealed manner which is what you requested.

Your choice will depend on your budget, and what is available readily in your country.

See jc57 Above!

If your only purpose is for self defense, then my first recommendation would be to go to a source to learn how to use a knife, and about the multitude of options. You'll need to learn how not to get killed or seriously injured. I'd make the exact same recommendations for anybody who wants to buy a firearm primarily for self defense. There are knives made specifically for this purpose, and there are many styles of using one depending on the type.

For instance, there is a Karambit knife designed for a specific (scary) style of martial arts. There is something like the Emerson folders, which has a blade design called the wave, designed to catch and stop the other person's knife. The designer himself has demonstrated its use. Consider carefully if this is truly your primary purpose, or if it's (as it is for me) an absolute last resort. You might get in less trouble with a tactical pen than you would with a knife. Check youtube for a variety of suggestions and demonstrations. I'm sure there's some self-defense experts here that can give you far better details and suggestions.

Damn, you guys have been super quick to answer, thank you very much!

-My max budget I think is 200€
-with country I mean a nation where is legal to carry what type of knife you want, I'm in a big city

Yes, that's what I thought you meant. Go to the practical tactical link jc57 listed, there are people there that know a lot more about this sort of thing, and will be able to guide you to local sources I'm sure.

Can you carry a hand gun in your country?
Better suited for self defense. If you don't have to get that close to an assailant..don't.

Recently I've found myself in 2 situation where I was at risk, but luckly nothing has happened, that's why I decided to get a knife and probably also a tactical pen. Seems like the majority of you is suggesting me a fixed blade...

I don't want to carry a gun, a knife should be less lethal and maybe enough for just scaring somebody to not fight me, but a gun it's really too much for me

I think it depends on the type of people you're likely to encounter. A fixed blade is like open carry. They are put on notice. A lot of people might also see this as a challenge. Somebody who is skilled can easily take the knife away from you. Which is why I prefer stealth. Also, people don't see a pen as a threat. Somebody might take a knife and turn it on you, but laugh at a pen until it's stuck in their eye socket. Again, I'd ask some of the experts who deal in this sort of thing. I carry a knife as a daily tool. I also own firearms, which are the great equalizer. I'm a big guy, but would only draw a knife only if I felt it was my absolute last option. If you can get a C&C (which I kind of doubt) that would be the best (albeit more expensive) option.

There is nothing less-lethal about knives whatsoever. They are deadly, deadly tools...

Ok, for around 200 bucks, I recommend the Benchmade AFO2 auto. A large and tough switchblade with a pommel that can double as a glass breaker or head knocker. Not to mention 154cm blade steel is an excellent choice as well.

I'm watching all the knives you have suggested but I'm a bit afraid that a non-fixed blade could fall from my hand while trying to open it in that hypotethical fight situation... I would of course train to open them etc. but it could still be a risk

Don't plan on carrying a knife for non lethal defense without some real training.
You need to know how to attack a spot that will stop them without having to cause a fatal injury, and most importantly how not to get yourself hurt.
