First Look - Kershaw Echelon

I like the overall lines of this knife quite a bit, but for some reason the hollowed out spots on either side of the thumb-studs really turns me off. Takes a great design and adds just a touch too much flashiness to it for me.

Those "hollowed out spots" give a little extra bite when opening the knife. If I don't get directly underneath the thumb stud my thumb usually slides to the left (towards the point) of the thumb stud. The hollowed out area has just enough traction to open the knife.

I like this knife very much except for one thing, assisted opening. If there was a non-AO model I would buy one in every color but as it is I might pick one up because it looks very nice. There are many Kershaw designs I would love to own but I just can't like AO. It's a beauty though.

Wow. That knife has such beautiful lines. Looks like it's time to retire the invincible Blur.

OK, I received the AG Russell email yesterday, and on their specials link was the Kershaw Echelon. I verified that they do have some in stock, but not sure for how long. I ordered one last night.. If your looking for one, you might try this link:

That.... was quick!

I just called A.G. to check on the order I placed on the 17th, they said it was on backorder and would not be in until the first of July. When I ordered it online, it said it was still in stock. I must have just missed it.

Russell is charging full price for it, too, right?

Yeah, I called and made sure, and I now have mine from A.G. Russell. They were selling them for $61 and change, so they didnt mark them up (or within $5-$10 of the best prices on the net - of course anyone with lower prices were Out of stock).

I asked AG how many they had received and they sad only 20... So, I guess I jumped on it fast enough.

For those who are looking, the only place I see them in stock (for a small Premium) is Bass Pro.. Check this link.. Might be worth the extra $20+ if you really want it now.

Good luck all

Blade HQ got a small order in. Don't know how many, but it's couldn't have been a lot, since they sold out less than 2-3 hours later (most likely because the site lets you set up alerts for when out of stock items are restocked).

It's kind of funny that they thought to mention (@1:48) that they were going to sell out even before their video completed posting to Youtube.

And so.... the waiting continues.

It's just baffling that a knife that clearly has generated such intense demand is not generating more vigorous production.
