[FIRST LOOK] ZT 0566 (or, so you wanted a smaller 0560?)

If they put the 0560 clip on it, I would look at it more seriously. That clip is a no-go (at least on the Echelon, I rarely carry that knife because of the clip). Maybe they will do like they did with the 0550 and have a mid-production change to the nicer clip. Love the Elmax, don't care if it is a SS lock, and the size is awesome on paper. I never got the 0560 because it is just too large to carry imo, so this will be perfect, plus cheaper. I don't own any Elmax yet, this may be the one.

i prefer steel frame lock to the titanium....count me in on this one.

We'll have to see how this little blade fits in my hands first. 3 1/4" blade is right on the line for me.

But you have to give it to KAI for listening to their consumers.

 This is going to be a MUST have for me. I liked the 560 but it was just too big for me. I like the ELMAX, and the pocket clip. Neutral on the SS lock, titanium would be nice but this will keep the cost down. Don't like the A/O, hoping there is a decent detent so it can be removed.

added the confirmed standalone detent to the list of specs in the original post since it seems to be a big concern. don't worry, it was the first question I had too. :p

That thing is looking good. I passed on the non-USA cryo despite liking it otherwise.
I prefer steel to Ti for it's better fatigue properties.

Too bad it's 1/4" too long for my state.
I'll take one out of the replicator, shrunken by 8%, please.

love the knife, also I'm kinda glad it's a stell lock instead of titanium I like steel on steel better than, ti on steel, countme in for 1 or 2. Great job KAI

I'm going to have to disagree on this one. I think I'll like this clip better than the 0560 clip.

I really liked the Cryo but the SS handles made it very heavy for it's size, I don't like buying Chinese made blades and I hate 8cr13mov. I feel like the 0566 is everything I wanted in the cryo and then some:thumbup:

I personally dont care if its steel or Ti. What Im actually disappointed about is the lack of KVT. I really thought we would see the introduction of some entry level KVT knives or mid level KVT. It would seem it would be cheaper to manufacture but maybe not. I guess im just over the whole A/O thing and just prefer a good set of bearings.

Where is that cleared up? I must have missed that post. I too would like to see the KVT implemented in this knife. I understand why it wouldn't be there if it's assisted opening, but since about half of those buying will probably deassist it, it would not be a mistake to include KVT in the design. Total versatility!

BTW, I think there are some advantages to having a steel frame, or at least a steel frame lock. You lose the advantage of "galling" between two different materials which is a safety factor of some sort, but on the other hand the steel will wear much better and probably won't "stick" as much. But again, no KVT?

I haven't handled one yet but the framelock side looks like it's slippery. Otherwise I'm glad that the torsion can be removed and maintain the detent. I'm getting one for sure.

I'm predicting that this knife is going to be one of ZTs all time highest sellers. I know I'll have 1 or maybe 2 or...........:)

I'm going to say this is going to be the new 0350, especially at the price it will be offered at.

Agreed, This may also cause a sales slump for the 550 as well.

This knife is definitely my "perfect knife" once its de-assisted of course.
