First Look!! ZT & Emerson Collabs - Made in USA, Feared around the world!!!

With all the madness over these awesome blades, has anybody heard of any reliable info on release dates?

I wouldn't hold your breath. And I mean that in the nicest way.

But I will say that with these, there isn't as much specialized work that needs to be done so the lead time should be shorter than previous limited editions and such.

Think more 801 turnaround and less 888

Just watched Blade HQ's video of the ZT offerings and didn't notice till it was pointed out: these go back to the bolt pivot of the 0200 and 0300! I don't have any experience with those or their capabilities vs. the regular Torx pivot, but in the debate of whether I'd go for the 0620 or the 0562 first, I think this put the 0620 up a notch, even just to satisfy my curiosity.

Great to see Emerson designs made by a company with first class materials and manufacturing tolerances. Not sure if I will get this model - will depend on how angular the grinds are on the production versions (I have no problem with traditional tantos, but don't like american tantos). Hope we will see some ZT versions of other Emerson designs, though. CQC-10 would be nice.

Thought I'd be done with buying folders, but after seeing this... Well I guess I could get one more :p

Yeah, from prototype to production folder takes quite some time over at ZT.

In the meantime ill get a 909 Stryker when they come out to keep me occupied, while i wait for the 620.

0801 and 0566 were out in well under a year... I'd say that's pretty damn good. How much faster do you want?

Well despite their other problems, BM announces new knives and have them out a week later. Hard to beat that. Kai/ZT would probably do better to not show new models off until right before their actual release. Too many prototypes with tentative features. Looking at the shot show videos I heard a lot of "this will be different on the production model" "this is just a prototype, the production model will have G10"

Oh, cause that worked out so well for the 300sn that has become pretty infamous for the looks. Shocking that they had to change the handles for this year...

Also might not be difficult when you come out with one or two new designs a year.. The Volli was such a hit last year too.

I commend bench made for doing it but I don't see them being in the same league.

Ill probably get the Kershaw versions, the ZT's for some reason never fancy my interest. They look great though. Honestly I am super excited for the new BM stuff. SPyderco kinda stunk this year with new blades.

Please tell me i'm not the only one that is more interested in the Elmax version instead of the M390?

I think it fits the Emerson style more, I considered putting one of these on the list, but decided I'll just wait and hope they come out with something similar to the CQC13 or CQC10, I just can't stand Tantos, other than that, I like everything about it.

Did anyone reserve/preorder one of these yet? I'm thinking about doing that today. this is probably one of the knives I am looking forward to the most.

I like the CF scale on the M390 steel version but I'd prefer to have a stonewashed blade....so, I'm not sure which to buy either...probably both if I can get my hands on them. I certainly wouldn't feel like I was missing out with the G10 SW blade version. I'm SO glad that ZT is doing this collaboration with Emerson! No disrespect to Mr. Emerson but I've had such great luck with ZT that I'd prefer to buy theirs.

Hell, I'd LOVE to see ZT put a stonewash Tanto blade in their 0550 Gen II frame. The Gen II 0550 already kicked a Strider SnG out of my pocket so if they'd come out with a Tanto version I'd never look back.

The M390/Carbon Fiber is stonewashed. The Elmax/G10 is DLC.

Well there ya go...so much for that issue. I must have seen the stonewash with G10 on a YouTube video in which ZT was showing the knives at Blade Show or whatever. The CF one I saw had part the blade of the highly polished. Or...maybe it was a dream. Carbon Fiber it is.
Thanks for the heads up.

I like everything about the 0620 except it appears the nut that sticks out of the handle on the CF side does so significantly. I guess they were going for the hardcore overbuilt look, but to me it's just one more thing that can catch on a pocket during deployment.

here is one of the actual prototypes:

Aw, crap. Carbon Fiber, Waved, a usable grind American Tanto, and a thumb disk? If retail is within the 2-300 range I'm done for.
