Trapping and killing as many as I can. Damn coons are after my chickens too. (Dale voice) View attachment 2622339
I lost a bunch of hens last year to coons. I got at least 3 with a body grip set on the ramp (rotten trash pandas were opening the door the birds use), and watched another get smacked crossing the road heading in the direction of the coop. Wound up giving it a coup de grace with the flat of my machete blade.

There's still a fox I need to settle up with, but that's going to require a long vigil on the roof with the triple deuce.

Nearly 10 coons and 5 possums in the last 3 weeks. They got to 1 hen. I feel your pain, the possums don't kill the chickens so I let them go. I have a camera in the coup so I know who the culprits are, the possums wander around and eat the bait in the trap but have yet to cause a problem. The coons are killers and have to go. I may have a weasel issue too.
I have one volunteer watermelon growing in the garden. I can’t wait to pick that thing!
I love volunteers! There's a bunch of random tomatoes around my house.
