I just think you(all) are wrong in this one instance
I don’t know what you think I said that is wrong. I relayed my experience that doing a certain amount of shaping and sanding before assembly made my life easier.
If you’re saying you think it won’t make yours easier, then that’s fine. You and I have different styles.
But handle comfort is also very important to me. I can’t stand any 90 degree edges or sharp corners anywhere my hand goes. So I should clarify,
that is something I finish after assembly, by dremel.
But getting the front of the scale to its final slope and grit finish before assembly is essential to me to make this part of the process more efficient and with a cleaner result.
From the like I see lots of knives getting that don’t have this detail it seems like I could skip it altogether and save the time and consumables and still charge what I charge.
But as I said I can’t stand sharp edge or corners on handles and so I won’t send them out that way either.
Before dremel
After dremel and much more comfortable
If I were making a kitchen knife with a pinch grip scallop I’d do the same thing.
And after all this the handle gets sanded averywhere it needs it, but it doesn’t need it at the front of the scales, aside from where the dremel was used.
So….
Two different styles. Neither wrong as long as they produce a knife that makes someone happy.
I really believe I'm making some of the Best handles available today.
So am I.
