When you guys say the front of the scales do you mean where you fingers go while holding the knife normally or ?

I agree people should make/use/buy whatever they want.I believe (for a kitchen chef knife) one that may be pinch grip, the more vertical scale face is more secure. Safer.

in my opinion, people are wrong about me not finishing them.

But I think you're grasping at straws with "safer".
They way you're describing would mean "safer" from slipping back onto the handle scales, which isn't a safety concern.
We may disagree but I detest marketing gimmicks. Especially when they're used as a crutch for poor design/finishing.Unexpected movement when handling a greased, slippery knife is Never welcomed....so we disagree.

The ASH1 ( and 2 ) really is one of the baddest ass knives ever made. Hatchet that can stab and pry.
Damn right! Chops well for its size, batons great, does small knife stuff ok choked up, and still plenty packable. I beat mine up regularly. The ASH1 ( and 2 ) really is one of the baddest ass knives ever made. Hatchet that can stab and pry.
