Yeah, I'm working on a hamon right now on one of my own pieces and this is my best inspiration. I like the flow on yours and the spacer.I do miss that perfect hamon look tho!

The different steel structures are still there. He's got some patina going on top of it. When you first try to reveal it, it's a bit of an art where you keep cycling over acid etching and lightly polishing. Quite a few different looks can be achieved.Pardon the ignorance...
Does a hamon disappear with use, or is there some specific task(s) that diminishes it?
It gets hidden under surface patina but is still visible, it's just not like the super visible lightning strike it was when it was first etched. It can be re etched as well but if you are going to use it again then no point.Pardon the ignorance...

Oh yeah! That Outback is a pleasure to use for sure. About to prep some wood for a small fire. All bases covered with that pair. The outback is extremely underrated - perfect size.

Some part of me hates the lack of a belly on a chopper. The other part of me sees the lack of use most bellys get on choppers. I'd need to use one without and see if there's any discernable difference before making a decision on if I'd get one.Man, I have about a million woodpiles that I could draw from. Despite that, I've been waiting for a sorta' "organic" situation, kinda' like I had with that Kershaw the other day, to absolutely beat the Sh!T outta' this thing...

I do both. I feel like the straight edge would have a little better reach for its size when lopping branches off or down.Do you cut, split, chop branches on a stump log like an endgrain butcher block?
Then, a belly is nice.
If you are limbing, lopping, chopping up in the air or overhead, then I like straighter blades

Totally makes sense, function over form. Yet there is always this tiny tiny part of me that still factors appearanceMan, I completely "get it".
As I posted in another thread, most of my "choppers" have been used for batoning, about 20:1, over chopping. I see something like the "JimiSlash" and my life of imagined "contingencies" takes-over. I immediately think, "Yeah, but I can't stab a Grizzly with it." At some point, I'm brought back to reality and realize that South Texas doesn't have Grizzlies. What we do have is a buttload of Mesquite branches blocking Ranch roads and "senderos".
Up to this point, my "Alex B"/"Work Tuff Gear" Aurora Borealis Kodiaks have met all of my situations, and served me WELL...

ferider has one or two of these ^^^, but I can't tell if he likes 'em or not, as I haven't heard hide-nor-hare from him.
For me(?), they've been offered in Asian SK85 and K329 (*A8Mod) and have been absolute BRUTES...and excellent performers.
Your mileage may vary.
