Fixed fighter--------suggestions???

Nostimos... listen matey... you have another option if you're in love with the Attack and are willing to go to around the 450 mark. I sent you a message... contact AdamVigil in here... he'll fix you up with a Super Attack 14... it's super for no other reason than because I made the template for it. :D LOL!!!

I'll probably my AV14 in a couple weeks.

And btw... the one you see Adam working on is a FULL depth mortise tang... if you want a FULL tang instead... just say so, I can forward a FT version template to Adam for you in no time.

Nostimos,

If I were to go for a fighter/utility knife for hard use without outlaying too much for it, something like this would be near the top of my list:

Pretty tasty aye nostimos?;)

I've been dying to get one of those since I saw the 3V run, but I'd really like more of a 1-6 or 1-5 in stainless with a stacked natural micarta handle on a very large through tang to mimic stacked leather. With all the fittings blued. No one makes it. :(

I cannot wait to see this one Matt as I've been lusting for a 14 lately. A 14 in 3v with the right heat treat would be the Cat's Meow so to speak.

Hoffner Hand Spear. Also short enough not offend many state knife laws. Tough and reasonably priced, blade steel isn't exotic but a knife fight isn't a swordfight.

For $500, you have a LOT of choices in custom blades. If you so desired, you could get a damascus knife with steel made by a maker who does NOT live in Pakistan......like me ;)

I'm gonna wait and see the custom that CM is having made and Coke drew up.

But I definitely see a blackjack in my future. I realize now they're probably made by BRK so quality is not an issue.
I did a quick search and came across one in the CPM3v and ivory micarta handle that caught my eye.
I'm a sucker for the old Westinghouse ivory micarta look.
At their (250ish) prices I can keep the BRK bravo I have, enjoy/use the blackjack and get a REAL Randall that catches my eye down the road at Clinton's for a decent price as a collectible for my safe queens. ;)

I see myself adding larger fix blade representation to my overall collection. :D

A HARD use fighter/survival knife is what you want.

For a pure fighting knife, nothing beats a dagger. The Cold Steel Tai Pan in 3V is a fine example and has a point that's beefier than a lot of single edge knives.

I think one of the best fighting designs if we are looking at a larger fixed blade is a bowie with a sharpened swedge. This allows for a powerful back cut. Back cutting with a bowie is part of what makes the design so versitile.

There are so many good designs. It all depends how you want to fight.

Check out Blackjack knives - USA made quality knives with A-2 steel blades. They run $200-$300 bucks, depending on handle material.

Like firearms, useless if you don't have it on you. Plan on carrying that Randall around?

I do.
