Flashlights

Jensen, as much as I like my SWM V11R, I have been looking into a LL Mini. Although the micro may a consideration since the Mini and V11R are so close in size. The Micro would be a nice little light when the V11R is just too big to carry??? What are your impressions of both?

^ I'm going to be busy until around 8 tonight. I'll do a nice write up on each around then. :)

Or a copper hinderer challenge coin maybe?

We've brought this up before. Here's what I know and will share...it's not an idea the Ranch hasn't already had. NOT SAYING they will ever exist, just saying they are well aware how cool we think those coins would be.

I like the little 3$ Cree lights. The lack of a halo and roundness of the beam works better for reading and such.

Actually, a lot of my friends that spend $$$ on gear are raving about the Klarus XT2C lately, it's just 65$, has Cree technology and they're carrying it in favor of Surefire, Elzetta and such. I have seriously been considering ordering one myself. Any of you guys familiar with Klarus lights?

Just received my HDS 200 EDC Rotary from Henry today. Wait was about 10 weeks, not too bad, however he penned a notation on the invoice I thought was interesting. The telephone call we had 2 weeks before XMas he told me there would be internal improvements, such as even lower setting and now I can dial up 250 lumens, sweet!
So I guess those who are on a waiting list can hopefully get their's soon.

He musta seen this thread or actually read the e-mail I sent about a year ago. Very glad it arrived and now surpasses the 200 standard lumen output.

Guess I'll be ordering my flush-button 200 (250) rotary ASAP.

That's awesome news!! Thanks for sharing that FO :) Can't wait to get mine even more now....

Now, what is your initial impression FO???

I had a Klarus XT2C. Great light! A lot of bang for the buck. It gets really hot really quickly though. I posted a pic of it in this thread a while back.

I am a little hesitant to post any kind of review here because of my complete lack of flashlight knowledge but I am going to make an attempt just for you MRaymond. I hope I dont make an ass of myself. Please keep in mind that I have only had the LL micro for a few weeks and the LL mini for 2 days. Most of my experience is with my HDS LE 170 which I am in love with. Great light and I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. My only complaint with the HDS is the size for my EDC purposes. I wanted a light that would just melt into my pocket and that I cold forget about until I needed it.

That is where the micro came in. First of all I love the size and look of this light especially in copper with the delta wrap. It is a work of art. It is overbuilt and will stand up to anything I can throw at it Im sure. As far as function goes the thing is pretty amazing at what it is intended for. For me it is an indoor light for looking in engine compartments, under sinks, in basements, and in dark places in a residential construction zone. For those chores it works perfectly. It is surprisingly bright (40 lumens) for its size and is very floody. It can easily light up a room or the average basement. It has a focusable beam like the other lenslights and that feature comes in handy depending on what I need it for. It fits easily into the change pocket of my work pants and I dont even know it is there. It would not be a light I would bring into the woods because it just isnt bright enough for that purpose. It was an expensive little light but it is made in the USA and for me its worth the money because I will use it on a daily basis multiple times.

The LL mini was an impulse buy for me because I love my copper micro so much. I love the look of the light and cant wait for it to patina like my micro. It is a bit bulky for my taste for EDC but will be in my coat pocket in the winter and in my truck in the summertime. I kind of doubt that it will kick the HDS out of the #1 spot for an outdoor light but I will give it a shot. I love the adjustable beam and I like the yellow tint of the light compared to the white of the HDS. It is quite bright on high (300 lumens) (brighter than my HDS 170) but it is a different kind of beam. I dont know the proper terminology to be able to explain what I want to say here so hopefully someone else can explain it better. The low is good (5-10 lumens) and Im sure will allow me to keep my night vision while in the woods at night. The adjustable beam is nice. The flood is floody, and it can throw the beam a good distance when dialed in. Overall it is a great light and will be a keeper for me without a doubt. I am having trouble getting used to the user interface compared to my HDS clicky though. To me the HDS is very intuitive. One click high, 2 clicks medium, 3 clicks low. The Lenslights memory feature definetely has a learning curve and I have not mastered it yet. Ill post some further thoughts after I use it for a few more weeks. Hope this helped somehow. :)

Awesome! Congrats...250 lumens is a nice bonus.

Thank you for your thoughts. I think you did great. Especially since I am kinda new to flashlights so I appreciate the plain language and impressions. As much as I like the idea of the HDS and the Mini, I am not sure I would like either one as an edc due to the extra heft and size over the v11r. As it stands, the v11r is about as big as I will comfortably carry everyday. And it's bright enough for the woods, etc.

I also have a surefire e2d led defender (200/5 lumens) and it fills the role of a bigger light with a bit more throw than the SWM.

I am not a collector of things, I just like quality. Therefore I prefer to not overlap potential uses. Maybe I will see if I can orchestrate a trade for an HDS or Lenslight for the surefire (and probably a little cash on my end). That way I will be able to get something new and not have the "overlap". Time will tell. Thanks again for your impressions, especially the picture of the mini and HDS next to one another.
