Flashlights

I got my rotary 250 two days ago and I ordered mid November. Very happy with the rotary it was well worth the wait. (Wait included clearing customs).

I just want to add that this thread has been a great resource for me in my search for finding a light I would like to carry. I chose a SWM V11R for getting my feet wet in the EDC of a light. That being said, much like my knife "progression", I started out a little more affordable (but well respected and reviewed) so there would be little risk if I determined that carrying a light every day wasn't for me. When I show my less knife aware friends my Hinderer, they all really love it, they can tell that it is a quality item. However, I am not sure that they appreciate it as much as I do since I have owned many well made, albeit less expensive, offerings from many well respected production companies-hence can see the small differences and nuances that make me appreciate it the XM for what it is. Since I feel that approach worked for me with knives, I thought it would work with lights.

Before I bought my SWM (having owned a surefire 2xCR123 led defender for many years), I did some research on CPF, various gadget forums on here and other sites, and here in this thread. I read about McGizmo, HDS, Muyshondt, Len Light, Prometheus, etc. etc. However, I ended up with the SWM because, like I said, I was getting my feet wet, not diving in head first to the deep end. Now I know what I am looking for. I want a clean UI (the SWM is the epitome of a clean UI and versatility in my opinion.) Enough output as necessary (for me that is the off chance that there is a dog on my late night walks or some nefarious criminal coming at me to take my stuff, a bright light in the darkness can give quite a startle and in turn buy some time to avoid any "problems"). Several levels of less bright. Well made, good materials and a company that back their products. One cell CR123 and pocketable (clip preferred). The SWM ticks those boxes for me FOR NOW. I say this knowing the kind of person I am (not a collector, not an accumulator, I just appreciate the finer things and would rather have 1 great thing than 3 really good things). I really appreciate the opinions of many on this forum and see an HDS rotary 200 (250) in my future. Because of getting the SWM (and handling various fenix/klarus/etc. lights), I think I will appreciate it more when it comes. Just like I appreciate my Hinderer more because of my experience with the others I have had.

This was a bit of a rambling, sorry:)

Nah, you wanna see bloviated rambling check out post #678! Yikes, does that guy ever shut up.

This thread has the front porch vibe, back porch cool factor and a wealth of opinionated information..in that we type more from experience than post links and quote spec sheets.

Anyone have any Experience with Oveready lights? Specifically the Modoolar line? Leaning that way for my next torch, as the triple head can put out crazy lumen number (1600) and the multiple body lengths can fit both EDC and much longer runtime needs just by switching bodies and batteries.

The overready lights look really killer. I don't have any personal experience with them sadly, but if you haven't read it yet Everyday Commentary did a really nice review of them some time ago.

I had not, but just did, guess one of these might bump a Copper Tri-EDC back a bit.....

The price tag has held me back a little on ordering one, but I've looked more than once. If you decide to get one, I know I'd like to read a review.

I've read a lot of positive things about them and even went looking to get one on more than one occasion...just never had stock of the model and items I was looking for each time I looked. But I may rekindle the quest and add one to my options.

I started this thread to find the most "perfect" pocketable (easily portable), robust and reliable illumination tool...but am not bothered if you guys want to expand that to a plural...

My HDS has arrived!!! The postman put it in my neighbors mailbox. So I got an unexpected door bell ring this evening with my neighbor holding my mail. One was a USPS Priority box. I was unaware that it was even sent. So to my surprise I wasn't expecting any deliveries til the end of the week for some other items.

The funny thing is my wife says to my neighbor is that it is probably something for his knife or a knife.... :) I looked at the box and it had HDS Sytems on the front.... Hell YES!!! Couldn't believe it!! Opened the box up and POW!!! This badboy I've been waiting for has arrived

I think this light has great build quality, you can just tell in hand that it is built very well... Great fit and finish, no visual flaws that I can see or feel, and wow is this thing bright!!! The step down/up is definitely noticable when rotating the knob, goes very low, I need to try it in a pure dark environment, I do love the rear rotary mucho mucho! Very neat design. Never had a rotary control light or a light of this standard.... As most have said the gnarls aren't super grippy but do provide some grip, it tail stands no problems, no wobbles what so ever.. The silver bezel is has a light stonewash appearance to it, it is perfect size in my opinion, the reflector is a orangish/bronzish appearance that looks like and orange peel... The rotary rotates very smoothly and with just the right amount of tension to it, it is a white light, seams to have good throw and flood, but my experience is with few lights.

Now I will gladly carry this

Hey fellas...do the newest batch of Rotary 250's have a silver(ish) stop-screw or are they finally black?

Just looked back at Final's photo and see they haven't changed on the tactical. What about the others?

Congrats KJ, the wait is finally over! These are designed by Henry to be used, the real aesthetics are inside, more you use it the more it becomes appreciated, like a Hinderer XM 18 production knife.

Mine is still in the mail........ordered middle of October, but it's a custom with the black bevel, sapphire, and flush clickie.....can't wait I'm like a Labrador when the mail comes.......

If it's a Rotary that's pretty much exactly what I'm about to order. But...debating the sapphire crystal since the glass hase given me no troubles and I do not baby these things.

All you guys scoring the new stuff please don't foget to share photos, first impressions and any other thoughts.

Any more real-world input/ thoughts on the Mac Tri EDC? Help push me into it please.
