Flashlights

I spent some time at the HDS both with Henry and one of his guys and played with the twisty a bit. Every time I handle one of Henry's lights I'm shocked at the amazing build quality and how much I dislike the UI's. I can't imagine that smoothly rotating control had a chance of staying where I set it while it's riding in my pocket all day. Also, no current pocket clip and the one they explained that they have coming seems... funky.
They were shocked that I like my Surefire EB1 so much, the beams not optimal but I remove it from my pocket and press the button hard for full brightness, lightly for dim. Easy day.

As with Knives and Baskin-Robbins ice cream - that is why there are many flavors of flashlight.
No ONE light will suit every ones needs/wants/desires, the repetitive theme of that fact is like a fingernail on a chalk board.
I have an E1b and it is a great light, the HDS rotary will/does in fact stay put while in pocket not that it is a big deal seeing as it is a "rotary" and intended to meet the need of the deployment situation at that particular moment. Some may turn it all the way down each time I suppose, if so - that is where you will find it when next you need it.
As for UI, ugghhh - on a rotary, I fail to see that as an issue but, the light is customizable/programmable which IMO along with many other features makes the offering an amazing value.
Clips? Again, personal choice- IF my rotary had one I would HOPE it was removeble because I hate clips on my EDC light. I clip my knife - No room for another item clipped on my pocket. (Flavor choice)
I'll leave it at that.

From experience the tactical 200 Rotary does stay close to where it's set if you go all the way max or all the way low...I say that because it's easy to tell how far the dial has rotated from the stop by simply rotating the dial to the stop. As for keeping it set anywhere other than max, I don't...because I dial the rotary to my need at the time, or double click to a lower setting.

The UI's programmability is something I like as complicated as it may be to setup...save the parental controls that exist to prolong life of power cells.

A hole doesn't allow air to enter/exit/vent??? Wow! That's unbelievable.

Now you are just being an @ss. The hole does not serve that purpose, in other words, it isn't there to serve as vent. Swiss cheese has holes as well, they don't serve as air vents.

Hey now, I'm all for some friendly forum jabs and am never easily rattled..hold no ill will...but your comments towards me almost run troll-like from time to time. I really hope that's not your intent. And please refrain from comments that seem to be directed at closing/moving this thread.

Troll? Really? I don't believe so. At least I am not making uniformed guesses as the meaning of a hole on a flashlight then defending my comments with the silliness you posted here, I personally try to stick to the facts as I did in my response about the actual purpose the hole serves or my comments on the difference lumens make.

And please refrain from comments that seem to be directed at closing/moving this thread.

The last time I made a comment in that vein was over a month ago. If you would like, I can see about being made a moderator and I could look into that for ya.

PM me if you want.

...I have no intent of being a Mod. I don't want the headaches and often my posts are quickly made from a mobile device in my spare time.

As I've said many times before I make mistakes, I do not know everything and so on...if I'm ever mistaken, so be it.

He also offers some photoluminescent paint on the posts by request for a small fee...glow posts.

Yes, I plan to replace the optic with posts that are drilled for trits this spring when the guy that does them does another run. This is just a sticker that goes on the light engine. Super cheap, but super effective.

I believe you misread my comment, I surely didn't suggest you being made a moderator.

(I apologize to all the other fine contributors of this thread for derailing it with useless shenanigans and will try to refrain and stick to facts as I was trying to do)

I read it both ways...but only commented on myself.

I'm gonna start knockin' heads :) I'm gonna go make some pointy hats and clear out the corners, don't make me come back there.

Here. Stare at this....

Understood!

Any thoughts / opinions on what finish you guys like best between black hard anodizing, Ti, Coated, and so on for your primary light?

Ti is my favorite that I own, but would love a stonewashed copper. The plain Al is interesting, but marks easily.

I don't and never have owned a copper (Cu) flashlight but do like how copper wears and patinas/colors,etc. over time/with use. Stonewash Ti is beautiful on Hinderers and I'd love to see a light done the same way.

So after reading almost 500 post in this thread, I've come to the conclusion that A - i need to get an Xm  and B- I need a HDS rotary. Does anyone know if there is a Canadian dealer or any dealer for that matter with stock.

Great thread by the way. So much info to digest.

I concur!! I would just go to each site and click on the dealer list and see who will ship to you
