Flashlights

I have a v11r and can tell a fairly noticeable difference between rechargeables and primaries. I am not sure it is the claimed 570 lumens but it much brighter.

Yes there is a jump on brightness, but what I notice is the protected AW 16340's don't last as long as the non Rechargeables. Nice compact package, makes for easy carry.

I use the unprotected AW IMR 16340s in both my HDS and v11r. You're right, they don't last as long as primaries.

I bought Jetbeams version the TCR1 back in 2012 and it's a great little light. I run mine with RCR not for claimed output but mainly because that little torch can eat batteries. Especially when your kids want to use the light on high as a "hand warmer." Bought a second for my brother as a gift and after a year he still can't stop talking about it. Although, it lost primary position when I finally broke down and purchased a Haiku from Don, the TCR1 still sees plenty of use around the home and has yet to fail me.

Congrats on the purchase. Enjoy

I have noticed with other torches that the light output diminishes as the battery life decreases. Protected rechargeables batteries just stop working when they reach a preset to protect the battery. However one advantage of the HDS Rotary Flashlight electronics over other brands, as Henry puts it:

"The electronics are fully regulated so that the light output stays constant from the time you put in a new battery until the time the battery cannot supply enough power for the selected setting. Other flashlights slowly dim as the battery is used and generate significantly less total light output. The output stays the same whether you use primary batteries or rechargeable batteries ".

And I know from using both, that rechargeables do not last as long as regular non rechargeable batteries.

Use my lights a lot. Experience is CR123 in HDS 170 clicky, 200 clicky and 200 Rotary last average 2-3 weeks. On RCR123 cell, I get 4-10 days...most often 5 days of use.

N2K - agree with you. All that being said I do like options and also like watching my XTAR VP1 recharger replenishing the expended batteries. I'm good either way.

Thanks guys. It was $110 shipped with the whole kit and caboodle, including the ti AA extender. It is in the same condition as you would expect having carried it for a week. Here is a pic of the current selection, as I am waiting on my copper Maratac CR123, and if it is half as cool as I think it looks, it will be a real value at $58.

I hope to receive one of those Maratac CR123s next month. Fingers crossed!!!

I don't suppose anyone has seen a 250 rotary in stock anywhere recently have they? :D I'm trying not to get impatient and just ordering a 200, but patience was never my strong suit.

I just thought....And shane has brought this up a couple times. That you should get on the email notification list with some of the dealers. Or just put an order in with Henry

I am really digging the copper on the last two photos! I recently picked up a Marrtac AA copper light! I just need a Hinderer with copper standoffs to go with it! Soon I hope.

^ Thank you! :) I love it. It's the size of a tube of Chapstick. It fits right in the change pocket in my carhartts. It's a good daytime edc for looking under sinks, in attics, basements, Etc. It wouldn't be of much use in the woods but that's not why I bought it. I have an HDS and a copper LL mini for situations that need a little more output.

and here is the reason I roll this way!

the crenelated bezel on the HDS is murder! my poor seb 25 couldn't hack it! But the XM18's bulletproof stonewash just laughed!!!!
and heres a surprise!

guess my environmental constraints even surpass what Henry expects! Oh well such is life as a wowcoop........
seriously I took to using bicycle inner tubing on my lights a long time ago because it helps cut down on pocket noise and lets me carry in the same pocket as my knife as I've always done for the last 32 years....it even doubles as a tactical ring (not that I ever have that need)

The green stripe indexes with the groove which is my favorite brightness/longevity compromise....I think Henry is pretty spot on with guessing what is practical, and the rubber tubing helps keep the rotary on the setting even in my busy pocket! :)

All in all this light coupled with the rcr123 and the XTARR charger is the best option I have found and I'm a satisfied customer!!

If Dr. Frankenstein's monster carried a light I think it would look like this ^^ one.

Neat ideas for those that carry a lot in one pocket. I tend to dedicate my light to the "weak side".

Ah! Somebody else who loves the inner tubes! I'm bad to bite down on my lights & my teeth raise hell over it! I've got at least a piece on the tail of all my lights.
