Flashlights

Thanks for the responses, I have compiled a list which I'll post up when I find the time - pending.

I'll add another annoying feature (to me) for the HDS lights. After you turn them on (I am most often at max setting on my rotary because these things are only 200 max lumens [claimed]) the light will step down its output after a short time to conserve the battery (cell). It's claimed that this is not really "noticed" etc., but it bugs the pi** outa me. If I wanted less output, I'd just dial it in.
It's just a bit too focused on power preservation to a point of continued annoyance.

That said, they are still a light to strongly consider for your pocket. They are customizable to a point. Perhaps there's a way to turn off all these pestering power preservation hurdles. I'll need to look into that.

The HDS lights are compact, flexible, and durable. If you need more light there are slightly bigger and brighter options out there.

Some HDS lights and a NovaTac, all modded to some degree:

Nice stuff.

Bigger is not desired. Brighter certainly is.

An HDS with more output, lighter weight, less parental control of power, and gripper texture...would be a huge win in pocketable light options.

Anyone have any personal opinions/experience with the "High CRI" output lights (I know HDS offers it) I've seen videos but...
In day to day use is it ....what?
I get the warmer more accurate deal but, unless you are a night time photog is there a reason to have one?

Contemplating placing an order so any first-hand experience/input appreciated.

DEFT-edc LR+ is 5.3 inches long, runs 18650 Li-Ions, aspheric lens, 72000 lux @1 meter (mine was adjusted and is somewhere in the range of 76Kcd & 80Kcd) with an approx effective range of 600 meters. For comparison Klarus XT11 8800 Lux@1m & Fenix PD32 5000 Lux@1m. That extra 0 on the LR+'s lux is not a typo which is why this is the ultimate pocket thrower!

This thing is incredible and exactly what I've been looking for in a light. Somehow or another I need to locate one of these things.

Nope, but almost went for one. The price isn't too bad for a HDS with high CRI either. Maybe I'll trade/sell off a few lights I don't use and give one of them a try.

Good luck with that. I went looking long ago and gave up.

Yep. It's lower on the list than my first Hinderer, but still a super impressive piece. I really don't know a ton about lights, but I've had real issues trying to find a good thrower that's EDC-able and not bank breaking.

Send me a PM or email. Have info regarding that.

I'll be of little assistance, but sent info. anyway.

I just noticed that a "BenChiew" on cpf just scored one and if that member is the one that posted here; perhaps they will share user info. on the HDS h-CRI 120????

Ok, So some new Chat material. Ordered an HDS Hi-CRI 120 lumen late on Wednesday (from a reputable vendor) and received it Friday morning.
Pictured here with two(2) recent EDC lights a Fenix PD20 and a discontinued Nitecore IFE1.
The Made in the USA HDS is quite a robust pocket carry light. The High-CRI is a popular (rare) offering.
Much like what we have come to expect from our beloved Hinderers, Over-built, Quality feel and American made.
Time will tell but it certainly seems to be built to last.

My favorite recent light acquisition is a Zebralight SC52W. Great beam shape and color temperature and the output is nothing short of phenomenal on a 14500 rechargeable (given the size and form factor). Great control interface and clip as well. It lives clipped to the 2" webbing on my TAD Dispatch Bag and I use it every morning walking to the train in the dark.

I also picked up an EagleTac SX25L3 with the MT-G2 LED and that's a great light for walking the dog at night. I can light up the entire three acre field behind our house with it and I see deer and rabbits with it almost every night. I wish I'd gotten the "kit" version with the tailcap switch since the side button can be hard to find in the dark (which is, you know, when you're actually using a flashlight...).

I'm thinking of adding a PD35 for variety and an intermediate step between these two...looks like a great light and so far most of my lights are either 18650 or AA/14500 compatible.

What scale is that rubi? That looks great. I really like it with the lanyard and bead v
