flea market finds

Sorry for the crappy pics. Old camera
Nothing to apologize for, the pics bring back memories. When I was a boy one of my aunts worked in a small store that had nothing of interest to me except for a display of knives. It was full of Sabre and I remember doing odd jobs saving up to buy one.

This came from a bowling alley near where I went to school. Not sure what I'll do with it, but I really like it!

I'm thinking I'll leave it in the garage for now. Good spot for removing muddy, snowy boots.

I get some of my best knives from flea markets. I recently picked up a b.g.i 521 bowie knife never owned one before but its a pretty sweet knife.

Had some less than good luck with my photo skills last night but here's one...

This guy came from a flea market / antiques show two weeks back. It's old, there's a very light marking at the base of the blade that I believe says "France". It's thick (looks like around 5/32") and heavy. $10.

Nice fine and with a sheath. It looks like the WWI French coup coup machete. Check it out before altering or cleaning it up.

Drove an hour last Sunday to a big flea market where I picked up 5 boxes of high brass 28 ga shells for a very good price and just in time for squirrel season. No cutting tools though, only because I used all of my self control when drooling over some vintage hatchets.

Thanks for the help with the ID on this Loosearrow. I checked out a coup coup (which apparently means "cut cut") thread here on BF and I think you are spot on. From what I read in that thread and some other info I found I think mine is not a WW1 vintage piece as I found that most of the early ones would have a makers mark which mine does not. I think this one might be WW2 or later, maybe even 1950's vintage.

It is one mean chopper. Not sure what I will do with it just yet but one of the guys here did a new handle and blade clean up that turned out pretty cool. I may just keep the custom electrical tape wrap for a while.

I think that you guys will appreciate this find more than my bowling alley chairs. :)

hey all,

nice finds Jeff! As it happens we took a walk around the yearly Swap Day today and while I'm not accumulate knives and sharp things as I have done in the past I don't know how anyone could resist a SAK for a buck :)

Heck of a score for a buck!

So how hard was it to catch the deer?
I've heard if you put salt on their tale they are easy to catch.

ah, wasn't too bad, they graze in our yard most days, you just reach out the window in the afternoon and have your pick :)
