FOG,S Passaround thread

Fog2--check out this link. All you need is some leather, a sharpie, and a knife to make a sheath. I think you've got the knife part covered, the leather and sharpie you can buy. I'd love to be in your passaround, unfortunately I don't have time right now.

Here's the link

Im going to try to get the knives sent out Friday but i still need to get some leather and work on some sheaths.Hopefully they will be ready for Friday.

Thanks,Bryce

Cool. Hey Bryce I jut thought I would mention to go about the mailing order from east to west or west to east...that way it is not going back and forth all over the place. You probably thought of that, but I just wanted to throw that in there.

C Bryant, yep that,s the plan.

Most likely i,ll send them to the west coast and let them work there way back.

I,m unsure about insuring them as i don,t know what that cost,s. Somebody here proly knows tho.

OPINIONS ?

It is not too expensive. Most folks make it part of the rules that is has to be sent out with X dollar amount of insurance. So figure out what you would be at a loss for if something happened to these, and that would be a safe insure amount them for. If you want to do that. It is a good idea to have at the very least delivery confirmation, I ship everything I send out with both.

Thanks for the info CB.

Ive been working with some leather and knives and whipped up a sheath that will carry multiple knives. I,m NOT going to show y,all pics.As i want to save the AWESOMENESS of it for you to see in person.

And i DONT want my idea STOLEN !

I need to get to work on a patent/copyright license.

DAYUM my finger HURTS ! I,ve been sharpening the >>>> 5 <<< Knives that are going in the passaround this evening. And my forefinger is feelin it. Im using sandpaper on a mousepad.
I,m sure you guys will get them sharper than i did. They DON,T pop hairs but DO slice paper nicely, I just got too tired to keep sharpening, and i wanted to put another coat of tung oil to fix the testing and sharpening scars on the handles.

SURPRISE my Tung oil has hardened into Jello..GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.Oh well i,m planning to send them out tomorrow sooooo, they will go w/o that coat o Tung oil and with a few lil scars.

I planned it that way so you guy,s won,t feel bad when you ding one of em :D

The knives went out today to WILLIAM H. I forgot to take pics b4 posting them but i imagine he will post some.

The main purpose of the passaround for me is to find out how well the blades hold up so i,ll know if the tempering process and grinds i used are viable. Also how comfortable the handles are to others. What you like/dont like etc.

I guess i shoulda just typed whats your opinion of the knives.

>>>>>> Im going go with 1 WEEK per person as a time limit b4 mailing to the next person on the list<<<<<<<

This is my thoughts on the order for the passaround if you think it would be better routed differently or if i MISSED anyone lemme know:

William H, TX ....Mailed 6-29-09
C Bryant, CA
Rockywolf, MN
John G, NY
Sharpeye, PA
Smitty0331 OH
