Can a folding bushcraft knife compete with the fixed blade version?

Pocket clip on spine kind of like Graham Knives does their folders and even their leather pocket sheaths... That would remove the clip in the palm issue O_o I'd love it in later models if at all possible...

pocket clips suck. They scratch up furniture and car doors, tear up your pockets, get bent easily, ID you as a "knife hider", add to the number of parts (increased time/cost), create hot-spots when you actually use your knife hard, and on and on.

I'm not 100% against them...but getting closer every day.

I have a pocket sheath designed to carry this knife very easily in your pocket. So good looking and classy you can even slip it in your suit pants.

I also will have kydex and nylon sheaths available - not at first, but as more of these roll out.

Does anybody know the options for the first run?
I saw the order form before my time ran out but don't remember them all:
1.handle was standard Natural canvas Micarta?, black/green optional? $
2. titanium liner finish options were?
3.Pouch options costs?
(couldn't find any of this on Dan's website)

I thought I had posted them somewhere and so I went looking and couldn't find the answers myself...!!

I'll update the official page on kosterknives.com

Checking in on this model.

Have these been made yet?

How do people like them?

Is the lock working?

I'll try to check back later.

Wanting to get one, they look fantastic but want to wait to see how the first run turns out first.

I don't think he has started on them yet. He said he had 300 custom orders to fill first. It will be worth the wait.

Yup, he is busy... I just hope someone dumps their slot on the folder list... :)

Minor update - Butch is working on a pocket sheath for me. Will be able to take a firesteel too.

I'm drooling with anticipation for the chance to get one of these folders. How is the progress coming along on making some more of these Mr. Dan ?

I have materials set aside, guys. I can't start them, though, until I push some more stuff out the door. Let's just say they're "in the hopper". :D

That said....I *do* have some pics of a pocket sheath I had Butch make for me. Let me know what you think!

The lanyard pull is a *great* way to pull the knife in/out. But even with it out, this one slides in/out with no hang-up and with little resistance. The *corner* of the sheath catches on the outside edge of the inside of your pocket as you being to pull the folder out with a pinch-grip. It pops right out and back in again. I tested it on a handful of friends and no-one guessed it was a knife in my pocket - most thought it was a wallet. Success!

That must be pretty powerful camouflage if the friends of a knife maker didn't guess that he had a knife in his pocket!
The sheath looks great and sounds very handy. Since the knife is pretty big I'm guessing that the sheath really fills a pocket.
Your lanyard matches the scales very nicely. I noticed that the knife has a back spacer and I don't recall hearing about the composition.
What did you decide to make the back spacer out of?

Great question, Fancier. It is made of Black G10 - easy to keep flat and is machined to exact thickness and is perfectly flat and parallel. For now, that's all I'm using (changing it is not an option). In the future, I will be offering more alternatives.

Hey Dan? Who is Butch? Does he just work with you or could I get him to make a pocket sheath like that for another folder I have??
