The back of the handle is slightly "dropped" - more curve near the butt of the handle. The lanyard tube is a full 1/4" hole and centered in the back of the handle. Overall the handle is slightly "more accommodating" to larger hands. If you have small or med hands - you probably won't notice a thing. But those with wider palms will be very happy with the new profile.
I have been carrying this folder (on my belt, in a pocket sheath, jacket pocket, etc.) nearly every day for the last 9 months.
I have taken it camping, have used it in restaurants, in my own kitchen, in the backyard, in my shop, and so on.
I have had kids use it, gave it to a contractor buddy to use, have had it used by my scouts (read: not carefully), by non-knife-knuts, by women, by diehard folder guys...and so on.
I have carried it in church, in the car, in office settings, outdoors strapped to backpacks, etc.
I've run out of ways to test it....hahahaha
It is by far my favorite go-to knife.
The *only* downside I've found is that the weight of it and size of it with a sheath.....it's almost like carrying a small fixed blade since I don't make it with a clip (which I am still against)....and less like carrying a folding knife. Every once in a while I'll miss having a smaller pocket-knife. But that usually goes away quickly when I realize how much *more* I can do with this Bushcraft folder.
Interestingly...a few other companies/individuals have released their own take on scandi folder. Some of them do look pretty interesting...but none of them offer *everything* this one does.
I think the best thing this has going for it...is that it is essentially a framelock first. So, already, it's as tough/strong/reliable as any quality framelock out there. There's such a strong/compelling market for "flat" folders....that no-one has taken on putting a full-size handle over a framelock folder.
You will have to see it and hold it to believe it. With any luck, I'll be at the Blade Show this year and have a few to look at. It really does feel like a fixed blade as soon as it's open in your hand.
Sometimes....I'm *too* patient. And this is one of those times. I wanted to make 100% certain I was completely happy with it. I am cutting another prototype now and will have the latest version ready for viewing sometime in the next month or so. I won't need to test that one out much because the changes are very minor and just slight improvements over the current one.
I do appreciate your patience on this folks! It will be worth the wait!
