Food and Blades

I've been posting these in the daily EDC thread. I almost forgot about this one! It'll take me a few days to catch up...

To start, here is a regular meal or snack for me. It's fried chicken in a sauce of hot sauce and butter alongside pitted Castelvetrano olives. In this picture, it was Captain Thom's White Zombie Sauce and Finlandia butter. The other night was CaJohn's Killer Chipotle and Kerrygold. It's something fun and easy to change up. The rich olives provide a nice balance.

The knife is my H6 Elegance from Real Steel. It's a great budget beater in 14C28N. I got it specifically because it can be carried tip-down. I usually carry tip-up in my right pants pocket but when that pocket is full, I go to an alternate carry position. Shirt pockets, vest pockets, and against the right seam of a rear pocket all work better tip-down for me. For the latter, it's usually either this or the Spyderco Rockjumper.

That same WE Mote with a little Chicken Marinara. This was from last weekend. We'll be doing the same with a different pasta shape this weekend. It has become a staple meal here. Making it is as easy as getting the ingredients together in the crock pot early enough that the chicken gets at least four hours on high. Then the chicken is just right and ready to fall apart.

I make enough to last the weekend. The first day usually sees it served straight in a bowl alongside garlic bread or loaded into sub rolls with fresh mozzarella. Then whatever is left gets tossed over rice or pasta the next day. The concept grew out of me getting lazy with Chicken Cacciatore.

My 6 day a week breakfast for the past two years 3 eggs scrambled, fresh blueberry’s, raspberry’s, blackberry’s, whole-raw almonds and two small kiwi. Everything a 300 lbs man needs to become and stay a 190 lbs man.

Great job! I'm in a similar boat. I only allow one "carb bomb" per day, which usually takes the form of pasta, rice, or bread at dinner time (or a little dessert after). Otherwise, the most I usually get is in a small amount of fruit, a little milk, or the breading on fried chicken depending on the day. (People following my food pics here have probably noticed my love of fritters.) Beyond that, I eat a lot of meat, cheese, eggs, certain nuts, and low or no carb fruits like peppers and olives.

Another big deal for overall health has been cutting out heavily processed junk and using healthy fats. After all the nonsense, it turns out that butter really is better. Butter from grass-fed cows is actually good for us. Olive and some other oils are healthy too. Otherwise, industrial seed oils, "vegetable oil", and their hydrogenated forms are not good for people.

The normal way of doing food in the United States and government-mandated education like the original grain-based "food pyramid" has done serious harm to whole generations of Americans. The degree to which many people can turn their health around with simple changes to diet is amazing.
