A little bit of oyster sauce goes a long way. It makes it Chinese/Japanese but I think it kicks it up a notch. Another awesome topping to add as a side is boiling some cleaned shitakes in soy, butter and sake. I fried the onions this morning, so much better than those canned fried onions.
I added a bit of fish sauce and topped with a little chopped bacon.
