For those with Bryan Breedon Knives

THat's one sweet design Pitdog!!! I really, really like it - specifically, i like the straight-edge length for actual cutting tasks, the thumb-rest "notches", the *very* ergo grip, of course the pommel w/cord attachment and the clip-point (super strong!!!!).

What did you and Bryan come up with as to materials and dimensions?

Without knowing for sure, i'd guess the blade length to be ~6"- 6 1/2" (maybe as long as 7"?), blade height to be ~1 1/2", handle length 5" - 5 1/2" and no thicker than 3/16" possibly 5/32" or even 1/8"

Well done !!!!

Thanks buddy, good guess with the dimensions !

Here is Bryan's 5/32" version so far !

Thats lookin' GOOD!!!!! Ya know when Bryan is sending pics of the cut-out delivery time is getting CLOSE!

That is going to be an awesome field knife PitDog. With a 5/32" thickness it should be quite the "slicer-n-dicer" !!!

That's Bryans, mine is gonna be 3/16"......I wanted a little more prying ability !

Hey Bryan do you have any shots looking down on these Antler handled knives, are they as rounded as my Woody knife handle ?

LORD GREYSTROKE.jpgI traded for a Lord Graystroke and took it out for some testing

Brought my camera but the battery was home still attached to the charger

Wanted to give my test report anyway

At first I though the handle was going to be too thick for me--but after 5 cuts the handle was great

This bad boy is a slicer...

Perfect for what I need

Must have made over 200 chops and it was still sharp enough to cut off arm hair

Light-fast-and easy to control

Very Happy with it!!

Sincerely

Dr.Bill

Pitdog, Yea I round the edges on the Elk antlers that I did. Not like I do with other handles but it could be done though. It would take the bark look off the handle if I shaped the handles like I normally do. They are still comfy to use. I still use mine lol.

Thanks for the kind words Bill. I am glad to hear you like your greystoke and the sharpness. I will be adding handles to another this week for a fellow that wanted one also.

I just received my version of Bryan SERE and it is everything I expected and I just have to show it off. I asked for a few small changed- a skosh wider edge to spine, dropped the tip a bit to get close to center line, had Bryan round the spine near the tip for batonning and for hand comfort in a pull or push assist as in drawknife work, then there is a small swedge right at the tip to aid in drilling and penetration. Steel is 5/32 O1, blade is right at 6.5" from slabs to tip and OAL is about 12". Slabs are meaty and sand finished to give great grip. I have not really worked it yet but played a bit and wanted to show how Bryan's angled guard creates some very secure grips.

Hi all,
Cool pics of your slanted guard SERE knife. It looks like you are getting in some woods time.
You mention the secure grip that you can get with the slanted guard. I have said it before
whether edge up or edge down once you wrap your pointer finger around the top or bottom guard
that is the most secure grip I have ever used for holding onto.
I see the bandaid on the finger there, did ya get a cut?

Thanks for the kind words on Bill's SERE knife.

LG&M, nice to see your Tessa knife. I just got a order for a Tessa knife from a fellow that lives in Greece this week. I will be making that one in about a month or so.

Well since this thread came up.

pitdogs hiking buddy Satsuma Tengu, wanted knife made for his son. Here is the pic if it and a video. just click on the pic and then video will play. ST wanted a warny type blade with a double cut saw milled into the spine for sawing notches.

Here is the video, just click on the pic below and the video should play.

Today I finished up a knife with black palm for the handle, and 7" blade of 1/4" thick 5160.
It is a shorter version of the Newt Livesay RATK knife that was being made a few years back.
I did a little change and put in a slanted Choil, and slanted my handle just a tad and did a tapered tang going from 1/4" thickness down to 1/8" thickness at the pommel area. I also put in a Breeden Divit in the middle pin and I made a coyote brown dangler sheath for it.

Take care all,

Bryan,
Yep, the big cleaver nipped my finger pulling it out of the sheath. I think it is just hungry. I got to feed it just a bit Saturday but my photographer had wandered off. Pics of that one soon.

Filipinos say you bite new shoes so they will not hurt your feet. I am going to try that with my knives to see if it "cuts" down on getting nipped ;)

Bill

LOL becareful how you bight them knives. You might get more than a nip. I can hardly wait to see what you think of that cleaver.
That sucker is a cutting powerhouse.

Bryan

Hey everybody, Just looking at the video and pics of the knife Bryan has made makes me salivate, LOL. My youngest son is graduating from high school this year and is planning to join the US Navy, so it got me researching traditional 'sailor's blades' and saw that was the basic design traditionally favored. My buddy Pitdog on here and I talked about it and I quickly sketched up the general concept- traditional sailor's blade but modernized with the tactical handle. Pit did the fine work drawing it up and e-mailed that off the Bryan and he did an awesome job it looks like making this idea a reality. Can't wait to see my son's face when I give it to him at his grad dinner. Thanks again to Bryan and Pit for everything they have done!

You are very Welcome, Andy. It was my pleasure to make that knife up. I hope you get a pic of your sons face and can send it to me.

Bryan

Tessa is going to Greece. That's great. Wish I could travel more.
Satsuma, good luck to your son.

LG&M, I have to thank you for introducing to me the Tessa.
I have, also, to thank Bryan for his willingness to understand what I have in my mind.

Yea, a version of the Tessa and maybe a smaller RTAK design will be going to Greece.

We are still working on the whole design stuff yet. But when it get done I am sure the
new owner of that blade will post in this thread ;):D.
