Call us weird, but - while our home is still in CA - we are now spending our 2nd winter in WY in the snow.

One of the advantages being that nobody cares about me running around with larger fixed blades and automatics - perfect in the snow :)

On the down-side, I have to use my iPhone for knife photos.

Good God.
I work outside everyday, usually at elevations, and I'm used to the cold.
But we don't work at minus 20 degrees.
The temps are one thing, it's the wind that will kick your butt.
I don't think anything would work at those temps.

At least the UV index is low 😊

I've got the thermostat set to 74°. Toasty warm in here. Our two vehicles are parked in the attached garage where I've got a 30 amp heater set to keep the space around 40°. Life is easier with this arrangement. Back when I was young & foolish, scraping ice and boosting dead batteries was the norm.

Things work, but complain about it. My van sounded like it was going to seize an axle yesterday. Our vent stacks iced over so I had to go up on the roof after work and pour hot water down them. Coming home to sewer smell is unpleasant but just another thing to expect when it's this cold.

Yep, -50 in the wind is where I draw the line. Up here, school buses won't go out at -35 due to the danger of a breakdown.

No chance of a sunburn today. 🤣

This is so true^^^
The wind has been terrible the last few weeks, but, the temps are not -50 degrees, thankfully!
It's 30 degrees now, Wind 10 mph with gusts. Even at these mild conditions you want to be dressed for the cold...not sure if there anything that will keep the wind out and still be able to move hands, arms and legs.
Had this with me while training the dogs this morning...

Close to record highs in the mid to upper 80's today in Florida. When I was 5 or 6 (1958-1959?) the family went to Coleridge Nebraska to visit my Dad's family and it was -25 with a fair amount of wind. Grandad told us not to try to pee outside..and stay close to the house. I thought it was cool if you spit high in the air it would freeze.

If you don't mind the question, where do live? Northern Canada??

Or FIMP for short...
funny, reminds me of a term...... got a distant family member by marriage from/in Michigan he calls big city people from Illinois and Indiana "fip"'s..

i wont explain what the first letter means its a curse word....then Illinois / Indiana, people. guess they buy lakefront homes in his town and set up shop and annoy the locals.

made me laugh...

Yes the "fip" and "fibs"(wisconsin term only for those from Illinois) come in, buy the prime property, drive costs up and disrupt the quiet areas. Very similar to "snowbirds" in south florida this time of year

So what you're saying is that you'd rather we didn't contribute one billion AMERICAN dollars to your economy like we did in Arizona back in 2019? (source: USAToday, Nov. 2, 2021)

edit; going to be around +1°F today so we're venturing out of the igloo to return some Christmas purchases and stock up on whale blubber 😉 I'll be packin' the 110 Slim Pro for that adventure.
