for winter, what Buck ya carrying and how cold is it...

Yes the "fip" and "fibs"(wisconsin term only for those from Illinois) come in, buy the prime property, drive costs up and disrupt the quiet areas. Very similar to "snowbirds" in south florida this time of year

So what you're saying is that you'd rather we didn't contribute one billion AMERICAN dollars to your economy like we did in Arizona back in 2019? (source: USAToday, Nov. 2, 2021)

edit; going to be around +1°F today so we're venturing out of the igloo to return some Christmas purchases and stock up on whale blubber 😉 I'll be packin' the 110 Slim Pro for that adventure.
well I opened the wrong door here, by accident. sorry fellas..thought it was humorous that up north they pick on each other, with acronym name calling. when Jeff did the acronym of my joke of renaming his ice cold homestead....just reminded me of that is all.

my apologies no harm was meant....btw term snowbirds in florida means from anywhere but here, flying south for winter. Northern states or even out west and such. it is not a name for only Canadians, least down here. dont know that terms use or meaning in Arizona...im not from there.

anyways sorry all, carry on......

From Days Of Thunder...
  • Harry Hogge : Cole, you're wandering all over the track!
Cole Trickle : Yeah, well this sxx of a bxxxh just slammed into me.
Harry Hogge : No, no, he didn't slam you, he didn't bump you, he didn't nudge you... he *rubbed* you. And rubbin, son, is racin'.

It's all good Jesse! No worries 😁 I just like skating into the corner to dig out a loose puck. 😉

Snowbirds also include Northern US residents residing in the south during winter. Businesses appreciate it, year round residents not so sure.

I took nothing by it. I meant nothing by my snowbird comment. I am from Michigan and spent two years in south Florida working. I was considered by co-workers as a snowbird. The rv parks I lived in only had a few Canadians. most were from the upper US.

I completely understand. Visitors/tourists are great for the economy but only if they are respectful to the locals. I wouldn't have it any other way.

good to know. I found it funny ya know the fips saying. small world.

Just got back from camping. Had my 898 pocket clipped inside my pocket the whole weekend.

They are called snowbirds in AZ as well. We get lots of them every winter.

60 degrees here right now. Perfect weather for me. I was out power washing the RV in shorts and t-shirt watching some of my neighbors walk by all bundled up for the winter.

It was 7 F this morning on my walk. The Buck 301 and 373 are two of my favorites. I found the 373 in a parking lot with some tacky grime on it, and a slightly bent tip on the main blade. It cleaned up nicely, sat in a bath of Rit dye, and has become a real user. The Forum knife is one of my absolute favorite slipjoints. I really like the size of my 303's but my hands down favorite slippies are both 301's.

I'm back to carrying a 560.

I'm finally back to my roots. Kinda... My first EDC was a 110 before my cousin gifted me a used up black 560. I sent it to Buck for a new blade and to blast what was left of the black coating off. From that point till now, it's been 20 years of trial and error. LEs, folders, fixed blades, you name it, I've tried it. Some I loved (303s, 20CV Vantage, original Marksman for instance), some I thought I would love (Onset both Ti and Damasteel and current offering, 110 Auto Pro, G10 Marksman, etc..), and some I ended up hating (BOTM 500 from last year being the only one I absolutely hated).

Put the slim 560 in its nylon sheath on my belt Saturday to pack under my chest waders, and it's been on my belt since.

It's still the best 110 variant, ever!

You can have your plastic, aluminum, slims, screws, G10 and Micarta.

It's light, it's thin, it's corrosion resistant, it's nimble and strong!

But best of all, the finger grooves! Topped off with a NOS thumb stud ("Zipper" or something catchy like that) made by LR in the custom shop years ago, and there is absolutely nothing better in the winter with gloves on!!

I'm too lazy to take a photo of the one I'm carrying right now. I've got a drawer full of these things and won't part with a single one so I'll never be without...lol

And i no longer have my first black one. My cousin who gifted it to me lost his 560 with a BG42 upgraded blade so I "loaned" him the restored one he gifted me years ago. Some day it'll come back again.

Good read.

I don't have a 560.... But they have always intrigued me.
I appreciate my simple users.
I find them more satisfying than the fancy ones I've accumulated.

I like the idea of the aluminum framed 110's and have wished for one with finger grooves.
Hmm. A 560.......

Thanks!
