Formal Occasions and what- or IF- you carry

It is nice to have a pocket clip that matches your pants so the knife isnt in the bottom of your pocket banging against your flashlight.

Spreading gear out between pockets is one thing. Another is the effective use of a pocket organizer. There are lots of options out there, usually with two or three slots, made of either leather or nylon. It can keep your gear separate and upright inside the pocket.

Knife? Flashlight? Is this a formal event, or are we going on maneuvers?

I always have a small flashlight. While my wife prefers AAA size, the smallest form factor for me is AA. With three settings and a nice, warm, high CRI beam; I am prepared for most ordinary situations needing light. That includes stuff like walking out to a car at night, finding something that was dropped, looking at the back of a closet, or dealing with power outages at night or inside a building. Once upon a time, being the only guy with a light during a power outage was a thing.

Sure, everybody has a light on their phone now. However, it usually has an obnoxiously harsh cool white tint. The battery is shared with the phone. It can be awkward to hold while doing things. There can also be situations where you don't want to be holding out, balancing, or handing off a valuable piece of computer technology.

You're not carrying a sidearm to a wedding???
That might be the best place to have one!
At least stuff a Seecamp LWS 32 in your pocket...
