Forum Knife Updates and comments

I am wondering if "Gaps" are in the eye of the beholder. Maybe some have a different definition of "Gaps." While I was "Coon-fingering and Chicken-eyeing" both of my examples I did not see any gaps but when I shine a light underneath the well, I can see gaps. I am wondering if most would see gaps under that scrutiny. Not criticizing, just a thought and observation. Standards could vary from one individual to the next. I do not feel my examples merit a return to warranty. I just think that is how the knife was made and meant to be. I do not have gaps between the covers and liners.

@Wharn Ha ha! That dog looks like she's thirsting to use that as a chew-bone :D:D

My cat is not far off either, she loves to get up on tables and then kick knives off them for 'fun' not all get a soft landing either...;):D

My personal thing is that if I have to hold it up to the light to see the gap then it won't bother me. I don't usually hold or cut with my knife against the light. :)

Wahoo, the post office is really burning through the workload. Like others, my notice for next week was delivered today. Before we opened the box, I told my son that he would have first choice. Both look pretty great on the surface, though one of the two is specifically amazing.

Box one (my son's choice), is a wonderful example of.....Dark and Knobby. Excellent f&f, smooth pulls (4 on clip, 5 on sheep), both blades sharp, etc. Could not ask for more. So as far as first glimpses go, would call this specimen spectacular.

Box two, ok color contrast but relatively flat (not Knobby). Pull strength 5 on sheep, but maybe only 3 on clip. Not real sharp (easy fix), and f&f is....meh. No major gaps, but both springs are sunk when closed. Probably would call this one a bit above average. I'm looking forward to following those who have (or will) darken the scales, and hopefully share a quick tutorial.

But, having said that.... I'm relatively pleased with the overall outcome. We are obviously a picky bunch (ok, maybe it's just me), but I would venture to guess that most enthusiast groups are similar. Our 2018 Forum knives will be enjoyed. Most likely my sons will be a shelf display with minimal useage (he's still in school). Mine will be carried on and off, while being a reminder of my friendships and time enjoyed in the forum, and on the Porch.

Thank you to all involved in this year's "EXPERIENCE". I've participated in the last four Traditional knives, and must say, this year's was the most enjoyable yet. Kudos everyone....SKBlades (& crew), Buck, and others unknown. Thanks again.

Now, should the 2019 process begin soon, or early next year? (In my mind there's a crazy little voice screaming.... "We need a poll, we need a poll".

You've got some "trails" in your stag... I think they look pretty cool :thumbsup:

Mine arrived yesterday (sunday! thanks USPS) on my doorstep. I'll post some photos later but both blades were lazy opening and closing out of box. I did a wd40 bath for 5 minutes, dried it, then Tuff Glide on the pivots. Now it's snappy smooth like it should be, both blades. I have some gaps in backsprings, but they don't bother me. My elk covers have a lot of shallow bark that i'm not too crazy about. I will probably seek to trade this for smooth elk covers because i like smooth better than rough.

My pair came in on Saturday and I'm happy with them. Pretty evenly matched elk covers in texture and thickness. A few gaps in the backsprings but nothing to worry about. The sheepsfoot backspring is shallow on both of mine but I can live with that. I put the bottom one in my pocket and I've been carrying it since.

Earlier someone asked if international orders were last. I am also curious about this. I have yet to recieve the pre shipment notification. Im in no rush, just wondering. So far the knives look great.

Just received. In a word...Spectacular! It feels, looks, and act like a Custom. The Elk Covers are different on both sides, but with awesome character. Lacking a caliper, I don’t have the ultra critical view that some have.:) In hand, it feels like someone described as a “working knife.” I am grateful for both the patience and hard work of Stephen, as well as the skill of Buck’s Custom Shop. I have never considered acquiring any Bucks. This has changed my view completely. Kudos. A Happy and Safe Holiday to all. Lest I forget, thank you also to ”Anonymous” for the page. It was the cherry on top.

All international orders should have emails. Please let me know if you do not. I only have 2 labels left to create for the USA. The addresses aren't registering with USPS for those 2.
