A wonderful link Alain! Thank you.The name is "jambette", because the top (bottom for us) bolster looks like a little boot. They were often "women" knives, because of the smaller size.
For those having some interest in French knives (and time), an interesting study (in English) :
French folding knife, a.k.a., “clasp knife” imported into the North American Fur Trade
edit : correct article webpage address instead of sales page
You're welcome!A wonderful link Alain! Thank you.
Jackpot...that is amazing.Just got this in fromKnives-of-France very quick service from out of Texas there, thanks again! This is quite a lovely folder, the pistachio scales appear to be book matched, as in slicing the wood down the middle and opening it like a book so the grain flows from side to side naturally. Very well done, has a small kinda half stop. I tied a small lanyard on there around one of the spacers that hold the knife together, solid feeling knife too by the way.
It's from Perceval and the model is Le Français with pistachio scales. It comes in a nice box and there is a slip sheath for it as well, but, I'll be making one up later tonight.

Great looking knife. I love those scales. Perceval does outstanding work and I know from discussions with them that they select the scales in pairs that fit. I’ve got a Le Francais Vintage which is a bit smaller with an added corkscrew and I can’t get it out of my pocket since it’s arrival.Just got this in fromKnives-of-France very quick service from out of Texas there, thanks again!
