Frisky Dingo posted an I'll take it then flaked. I've PM'd and emailed him repeatedly to ask him to let me know what happened, he hasn't responded. He's been active since, buying selling, and even offering "pimpage".

FD if you see this, feel free to contact me to explain...

Wow Greg this is rather news to me, I thought I had responded to you saying I didn't want the knife anymore. Maybe you had tried to contact me via my old email, but I know you sent me a PM here on the forums to which I replied, maybe something's jacked up there? I know I sent you a PM tho and it's been a LONG time... idk what motivation you could possibly have trying to besmirch my rep here tho :(

You know honestly so long as we're complaining about each other and making things public, I didn't like how pushy you were about the whole transaction, and I think it's pretty bad form to air grievances in public when things could be a simple matter of miscommunication, which they apparently are. I know who I'm not doing business with in the future...

I tried your BF email & PM. Last one I posted I'm pretty sure I even said, contact me or I post in GBU. I don't recall you ever responding, until now. Please feel free to contact me via email and we can clear it up.

I went through the same thing a while back when trying to purchase a knife via email through the forum. For some reason i wasnt getting any response from the seller and i was getting pretty upset. Come to find out most of the messages he was sending wasnt getting to me through the forum. I did, however, receive the knife in good working order a few day later.

To which I thought I had replied, I didn't want the knife due to having found it cheaper elsewhere. You know it's rather classless of you to do this, normally people live and let live, find another buyer. Like I said, I responded via pm here on BF and I really can help it if you didn't recieved it, maybe there's a glitch in the system. Crap happens.

As far as I'm concerned were done here, I'm sorry you didn't get my pm, but you don't have any entitlement to my business or money, I never paid you because I found better service and prices elsewhere and I thought I had let you know.

FriskyDingo, you should have a look at the thread linked below and understand that, within the culture of this board, "I'll take it" means "I'll take it."

It's not a place holder on a knife until you can find one cheaper.

Period.

I, for one, won't be dealing with you if this is your attitude. It's an honor system around here, not a free-for-all bazaar. You're yet to show any honor.

I'm going to add here that I've been in the same boat.

I've posted an "I'll take it" and then found the same knife soon thereafter at a cheaper price.

I cursed my luck, sucked it up, and paid the higher price. FriskyDingo might think that act makes me an idiot.

I think it just means that I honor my word. YMMV.

Between his lowball offers and his genersl holier than thou attitide about this I hope everyone thinks twice before doing business with FD. He's a disgrace to the whole selling forum. Who needs him.

With an attitude like that, I hope so many people see this that you find it hard to buy or sell anything. It takes all kinds, but you're the kind that's not needed around here. :barf: Another addition to my "do not deal with" list.

And here I thought it couldn't get any worse than your previous post. Keep diggin'.

we have no way of knowing if a pm was actually sent. a system glitch? if you wanted to cancel the deal, then there would have been a right way to do it, starting with an apology.

that's the thing. most of us who sell are not running a business. we have to trust a member when they say they want to buy something.

this is done with a simple "ill take it" in the thread, pm, email, or all three, whatever the seller decides will be the protocol. that you see all this as beneath you and somehow meaningless does not do your reputation any good.

these things are easy to make go away, and getting defensive and rationalizing is not the way to do so.

My feelings exactly.

When I post "I'll take it", or send a PM/email with the same message, I'm pretty much comitted.

Seller should rightly expect me to follow through on my end, barring some rare/unforeseen personal issue.

And that doesn't include finding it for a cheaper price.

Sorry FD, you hung him up when you comitted to take it and didn't...

:thumbup:Yup

Saying "I'll take it" here on this forum means, I'm 100% going to buy it.

Saying I'll take it then turning around saying, oh sorry but your SOL I found the same knife for cheaper somewhere else is not how things are done around here.

Doing that in my book is "classless" and is a sure way to get yourself negative feedback.

Gotta agree with the folks who say that "I'll take it" means it's a done deal and you are not going to back out. I had a situation similar to FD's come up just a couple of weeks ago and I went through with the deal because I had said I'd take the knife. My integrity is worth more than $5-$10.

I agree I'll take it means you are going to buy it. I have also bought here and found cheaper but the only thing I have for you all to know me by is my honor and its strong. I'll take it means done deal I'm responsible to pay for it now. You did wrong!
