Frisky Dingo flaked...

Good post and food for thought. I put a knife up for sale a couple of months ago and a well respected member sent me a PM saying he'd take it, but didn't post it in the thread. He also wanted to know if I could hold off for a few days before he sent payment. I said sure, since I had done the exact same thing just a few days prior, and a member here extended that courtesy to me. I made sure when Friday arrived, I sent my payment his way by Priority Mail. But my buyer disappeared. I hear nothing from him, no PMs, emails, nada.

After more than a week of zero communication, I finally sent the guy a PM teling him that if he hadn't sent payment by then (almost ten days after his commitment to buy), to just keep his money and I'd keep my knife. Here again, zero communication, no expalanation or even a sorry ass excuse. Nothing at all. I really wanted to ding the guy, but as has been stated, no deal was consummated and I felt like it would get me nowhere, other than exposing this weasel as someone who is not what he appears to be. Even now, he's yet to communicate with me.

For the sake of fairness I believe your "buyer" should also be exposed, at least to show that he is not a well respected member after all. Why would it be only newer members like Frisky Dingo that get all the heat when they flake?

Guys, I'm the guy who flaked on GeeGee.

I've had a pile of things go very sideways recently. They started going very very sideways about the time I got involved in the deal with GeeGee.

I'm not proud at all of how that got handled on my part, and I'm really not happy about it.

I read this and realized I'd yet to square things with him. I just sent him a proper private apology, but publicly I admit to screwing up and not following thru. Things are tracking better for me now, but that's not BFC's problem, nor any member thereof.

GeeGee, pls check your PM's and if you need to add anything here, your call. I'll be the first to admit when I screw up and I'll always do what I can to fix it.

 Admitting one's mistakes usually takes more character than doing the right thing in the first place.

Thanks guys. I'm hoping to hear back from GeeGee and if anything needs to be straightened out, I'll take care of it.

Message received. Knives are pretty important around here, but I think we all understand that just when you least expect it, life throws us some pretty big curveballs. Me and Parker, we're good.

friskydingo556 has an XL Espada listed on Ebay using on of my Bladeforums images. I asked him to remove it please and he tells me it is a public domain stock photo and not required to picture his knife for sale or notify potential buyers that the pictured blade in hand is not his own.

Could be the very same Dingo, either way, I wouldn't trust this auction or this seller.

That doesn't look like a stock photo. That looks like a personal photo of a knife in hand.

He did that with a knife I sold him here, he later tried to flip it using my picture. I let it slide because soon after he got banned. You can report him to eBay for using your picture without authorization.

That may have been the case if he didn't have to read this thread before he stepped up....this is an attempt to save face (IMO). :thumbdn: :thumbdn:

Flake is a flake !!

Just to make sure people make the right connection, FriskyDingo is Will Moon.

I'm new around here. Just my $.02.

In order to maintain the necessary integrity for the buy/sell/trade transactions to flourish we must all trust each other to a certain degree. Therefore, shady transactions, whether they rise to the level of negative feedback or not should be called out, naming the offender publicly if warranted. If you say "I'll take it" in a public forum, then back out without proper communication and acceptance on the sellers part, you should be prepared to be called out in a public forum. I for one appreciate it as it helps me to trust the community.
I have yet to buy a knife on this or any forum. Not gold so won't be selling, yet. Based on this and similar threads, I would have confidence doing so, as I trust the community and can identify scofflaws that aren't worth the risk.
