Gareth bull: Slow Delivery/waitlist thread

well he said that this batch was supposed to include Dflores, Teague's and my knives as well. Teague Cancelled (most of) his order so hopefully mines next on the line for production.

Hi Wolf,

Actually I re-gathered the materials for part of my order, which was for multiple knives. I ended up talking with Gareth about keeping enough material to finish one knife — he desperately wants to prove he can do the work, and I thought it seemed like a good idea.

He just finished it yesterday. More to come on it, soon.

that's good, glad he is updating some people and getting some knives done. Hope to get an email from him soon about my knife :)

I've just sent a mail to Gareth cancelling my order. I've lost interest and any respect I had so you can take me off the list. Fortunately I had not paid a deposit - those that did, I wish you well and hope this doesn't end in tears.

Update : the mail to Gareth bounced and is undeliverable - seeing I've had no contact from him since 9 January 2013, he'd probably forgotten about me anyway.

mine was supposed to be done in January!
he doesn't answer emails for weeks so i'm afraid Gareth has gone in hidding again.
this whole thing is so ridiculous :mad:
 
Hey all, I've been silently following this thread...ironically it's what turned me on to Gareth's work and after seeing it all, I couldn't resist but test my luck with an order. My knife was to be completed in November and I still haven't heard anything from him, BUT it just so happens I will be in South Africa for a couple weeks this May and was wondering if any of you knew where in the country he resides. I'll be in Durban and mobility may be limited but assuming I can set something up with Gareth, and he isn't too far from my location, I'm hoping to link up with him in person and get a feel for the situation with my own eyes (and if I'm lucky pick up the knife I ordered).

Thought I could somehow help the situation or at least get some better answers

I realize the lack of communication and the huge delays are super frustrating, but I still hold no hostility or negativity towards Gareth and I sincerely hope this all comes to a positive resolution
 
Durban is approximately just over 1 000 miles by road from where GB lives........

Roughly 2 hours by plane......

Aww crap thats a lot farther away than i was anticipating :/ either way ill reach out to gareth and let you all know if i have any luck....

I find that interesting because his order books were supposidly closed since before then (I believe).

I don't have any orders after may of 2013 on the original list.

Ill put you on the June 2013 spot.

He was reluctant at first. It involved some begging on my part- im dying to try out some N77 and expressed that to him. I also expressed that i would be willing to wait however long it took to get my order.

He liked that I am planning to use the hell out of the knife and was also interested in seeing how the steel would perform in real life as there doesn't seem to be much info about it outside of the Des Horn youtube video...

Whenever i get my knife it will go straight into my pocket and be put to use. I'm not planning on baby-ing this knife at all whenever i receive it.

Despite all the issues here, there still is no other knife ive seen yet that i would rather use as my EDC...

It may be naive of me but i remain optimistic that i will, at some point, have my Shamwari in hand

GB just delivered 2 units to me for sharpening going to you peeps...

As usual, the craftsmanship is beyond critic....impressed is putting it mildly.

So tomorrow I will dress the edges in the required tuxedo....

GB will collect on Monday to ship the units.
