Gareth bull: Slow Delivery/waitlist thread

He's great at giving the hopeless enough hope to get the discussion back off legal action, but not so great at delivering knives.

I say we submit to websites that list the 10 most prevalent South African Internet scams to add "Gareth Bull Knife Orders" to their list, which includes 419 scams and Nigerian Prince scams. OP should change the name of this thread to something with scam in the name also, so that way anyone that searches will get "Scam" in their results, and hopefully steer clear.

I think everyone needs to contact the South African Bureau of Standards and Government and get some better directives on how to pursue a class action suit or direct prosecution. They are the equivalent of a consumer watch agency, or something like the Better Business bureau, but at the very least should be able to connect you guys with the correct agency for prosecuting International fraud.

Thanks very much for this link. Additional options I've already pursued are to file a dispute with PayPal if that's how you made your payment to Mr. Bull. They won't cover you with their PayPal Purchase Plan, since the transaction is over 45 days old, but if several of us file, it might slow him down. Another avenue in the US is to file a complaint with The Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov.

I'll follow up with South African Bureau of Standards and Government also.

Do you have any updates on you pursuit of legal action. I'm curious if its getting you anywhere/moving forward in getting your money back?

No, not yet. I expect it'll take quite a while to hear back from anyone. Realistically, unless Gareth wakes up and decides to be a knife maker again, nothing will happen. There are too many big scams going on out there. We can always hope, but the best we can probably expect is to keep someone else from giving Gareth money.

Anyone receive their knife yet??? :blue:

I would just really like to know if knives are coming with any sort of certainty. I never liked charades. I like many am enamored by the talent and craftsmanship in the GB knives beginning with the Warlock and awaiting the Shamwari. With others I have waited quite some time. Just a few months shy of two years...

Will it ever end positively?

I have not been following this thread closely, but did read the last 20 or so replies. I've sent Gareth an infraction message asking him to keep communication with everyone he owes money to on here. I hope he can do that, otherwise we will have no alternative aside from banning his account.also, his knifemaker membership has lapsed, and he has not renewed. So he is either dirt broke or has no interest in continuing here. Just putting it out there.

If you ban him, we will really have no way of knowing what is going on. I know he hasn't updated for a while, but at least he can do so at the moment. This thread is helpful in that regard, but only if there is a possibility of him replying.

I have no other information, but am also waiting. If I were a betting man, I'd along with the other suggestions he likely also just had his first child arrive. I hope it went well, but who knows what extenuating circumstances there might be. I keep thinking about asking for a refund, but then figure I can continue to be patient...

I know for me the is just about the only place to look for any updates or communication. E-mails go unanswered and I'm not a member of the SA site. So I hope he at least stays a member for communication sake; if and when he does communicate.

Exactly, but at the same time (family issues aside), blowing off customers for months on end is not a good way to do business. Warnings and infractions serve multiple purposes, one of which is, "Hey, we're waiting on you." In the mean time, this thread will keep on growing and growing with no visual confirmation of progress, except the size of the thread itself.

No doubt. But we aren't really here any more to answer the question of whether he is doing business well. We are here to resolve the ongoing questions of getting promised (and paid for) knives delivered. As as the last couple of posts indicate, sometimes there is a little progress. Any news is helpful in that regard.
