Gareth bull: Slow Delivery/waitlist thread

I sent a few emails over the last few months with no answer. I am not worried, but that is why I said hopefully non of them went to his spam folder. That happens to me sometimes.

you should be able to PM him since you are a gold member. He checks the BF frequently.

Well, I've been on his list for just under a year and only as of recent been having trouble with him returning e-mails. I've sent two this week that have gone unanswered. Busy? Maybe. Hope to hear from him soon. Anyone here all to him this past week or so?

I have. I am sure he is quite busy. Have faith. :)

Any word? Has anyone heard from Gareth recently, or gotten anything like an update on timing? I emailed a little while back, and didn't receive a reply.

Cheers,
Daniel

I received a couple emails from him yesterday and we talk for a bit. He said he is very busy working on knives.

He gave me a eta of about 2 weeks.

Thanks--he was quick to send me a couple emails as well after I posted this. Here's hoping 2 weeks is about right for you. Probably another week or so for me after that.

well I'm not too sure if it will be 2 weeks or not, (nothing against him but so far deadlines have not been met, hes been very busy).

I'm sure we will have our knives soon enough, being patient is the hardest part though :)

Still waiting for mine but it ain't no big :) I have plenty others to tide me over!

Sent from its a secret

Gareth replied yesterday. Just for those third party readers, Gareth has been a stand-up guy throughout the process. He forewarned the long lead time even out to a year to 18 months. I have no issue with that. Communication got touchy a couple of times. Chalk it up to not walking in the man's shoes. Everyone has a life and sometimes that gets in the way of others. I would have no problem trusting him with a build.

I agree with you, Gazza has been a stand up guy. But his communication is lacking at times.

I told him from the beginning I trusted that he would provide a knife and that's why I gave him full payment up front:thumbup:

I was originally quoted 2-3 months. My wait has been more like your quoted wait. No big deal and Gazza knows that as long as he communicates.

His knives are my grails and the only reason its so hard to wait is because of the anticipation I have had for my warlock.

Gazza I'm sure your reading this so keep up the good work

Has anyone heard from Gareth in awhile? I, like many of you, don't mind waiting, but the lack of communication does bother me. That said, I echo many of your sentiments that Gareth seems like a great guy, just a great guy that needs to be better at communicating with his customers.

I heard from him about 2 weeks ago, He told me his is very very busy with orders.

I would send him either a pm through BF or another email. He usually does eventually reply.

I'm in the same situation, I talked to him in early Nov. 2012 about my order and he said it should be done before christmas and I haven't been able to get ahold of him since.

It's seemed that Gareth has gotten over his head in his knive-making. His works are beautiful but it's one thing to make a beautiful knife in one's garage; when you start taking orders then things go out of hand. Hand made items take time I know but when you foresee a 12-18 month turnaround time then you are looking at trouble, you cannot catch up with inflation and you are paying for materials up front. For the time spent and material costs he would be lucky if he breaks even for each knife sold.

If Gareth has any intentions of staying in business maybe its time to consider taking a loss, outsource partial fabricating and build up a reputation.

I am in the same boat, I ordered mine a year ago now and he told me that I would have it around Christmas 2012 too. I sent him a third email tonight. If I hear from him, I will tell him to update people in here, or let you guys know what he says.
The wait is okay, the lack of communication and bad completion estimates are not.

I sent him an email two days ago and didn't have success. I have also noticed he hasn't been online so hopefully hes been using the time to work on the knives.
