GEC 25s - Gots 'em?

I know that is normally the case. But I'm telling you man, Northfield made that same knife with the same bolsters. I don't say "I'm positive" unless I have zero doubt.

Here's a pic of the knife you're looking for, directly off GEC's website.

Thanks for pulling that for me. Guess it was buried in the 2008 production and I overlooked the thumbnail on my phone. Seems like GEC didn't nail their sawcut bone till Charlie came along. Am I alone on that impression?

I agree, even on the first run of PPP copperhead bone Charlows, the saw cut was very shallow. Charlie asked them to make it deeper on subsequent runs.

Very true. My copperhead Charlow has striations so shallow, you have to hold it at the right angle in good light to even see them.

I've got two - a snakewood and an acrylic. Love em both!

Man, I like that acrylic hoppes. I have never seen that one. Can you give us some more information about that knife? Is it possibly one of the open house acrylics from 2008?

Sugarleaf - sorry to take so long.

Pertinux - thanks for the tip on the latest.

My meagre Barlow quad

Nice lineup Paul! Thanks for the photo. I am kinda partial to the Barlows myself. I especially like the green jigged bone one you have

I think, if I'm not mistaken, it's called cinnamon swirl acrylic, a 1 of 14 from 2009. I only know this because this was listed on ebay a couple of weeks ago and I bid on it. I have yet to be able to win a 25 off of ebay. Always seem to come up short as the runner up :( Nice score Hoppes! Sorry to have bid you up on it... She's a beauty!

Totally agree on this Mik, those sawcut covers look nothing like the sawcut they are doing now. The sawcut they do now, looks so much better.

Here are Some Pics of Mine The secondary blade pull is a BEAR on this one:

I'm not a fan of the spear point on the 25. It looks like someone snipped the end off a butter knife or something. Drop point, sheepsfoot, and clip I like much more.

I know I'm repeating myself, but that's one of my favorite blade combinations in this pattern: pinchable, eminently useful wharncliffe main, swoopy clip secondary.

Well, ~P, I've now read this thread all the way through twice. Must be something wrong with me...all those purdy pictures....

I don't own any #25's yet, but after the twice through reading, what you reminded me of in the photo above is the blade combo I now know am looking for.

As a thread that goes back some years now, I know I'll have to have patience to find my own.

I'm female, too, with relatively small hands, and I just know one of these would be the ticket to some winter whittling. The question being how many winters into the future! I sure hope GEC decides to make more. The thread is a testament to how awesome the frame is in all it's variations, and how many different people with different tastes and needs in knives are drawn to the #25 - and then go on to use it, also, as an EDC.

Thanks, everyone, for the education contained here.

That's exactly right! Good to know that either way, it would have ended up with a BF member.

One of these days I'm gonna get my 2 out and take a picture. Great to see all these everyone!
