I am a huge fan of the far right and far left models in your collection. The shield on the far right is great!

The shield on the far right is (one of?) GEC's BEST!

pmew, I do believe that is jobillo wood, as that's the only cover used with that shield on a #25 so far.

As for the beauty on the far left, I'm partial to that one myself-- another "best of" amidst the many variations of #25s. I'm grateful it now resides with someone who enjoys the pattern, and has an affinity for snakewood.

You are correct, Sarah. And I love the one you sold me. It hold a coveted spot in my collection. I sold the old tan recently as it did nothing for me. But the Jobillo wood one is often carried when I dress a bit nicer. Love the shield on that one.

It came in a trade with a fellow forumite. I've never really taken to EO notches (even though I have quite a few) so I'll see how I get on with this one.

Edited to add; AKC, I still can't figure it out. :(

 Great picture!

Thanks JP :)

That's Loch Grimshader, looking east out into the Minch. On a clear day you can see the munros of Sutherland on the Scottish mainland from that view. It's about a hundred yards from my house, I walk the dog there every day :)

I have a new definition for "Computer Crash" - "That which occurs while setting up the shot because some person says "pics or it didn't happen" after merely breathing on a tube causes the the whole thing to collapse like a house of cards. Not once, not twice, but thrice."

I'm surprised my keyboard isn't messed up. Happy now? Dork. :D

Wish I could catch the one Stag peanut with the Case XX shield a little better. The shield is actually engraved MOP and quite firey...

Nice digs, looks like a great place for a walk...

PS - You'll get it...

AKC It must be the top line are the current favourites, and you work downwards. A kind of knife Pantheon:thumbup: If anybody cracks it, do they get a crack at that definitive collection....?:D:cool:

Paul Beautiful atmospheric shot. Those boulders have a lot of lichen and other interesting stuff growing on them, must be that bracing sea-air:cool: The bone on your new 25 is rich and a very attractive type, bit like a warm Cognac :D I too share your reservations over EO notches, loads of people like them but they strike me as a kind of assault on the aesthetics of a knife (I fully understand the mechanical advantages) a brutal one, critically on small patterns. The other thing about EO notches is that for me at least, they actually interfere with the smooth handling of a knife. Somehow, the fingertip gets in there. My right ring fingertip was nearly sliced off in a glass accident longtime ago but the scar still makes it unpleasant to touch things.

That said, I'm very keen on this early model I have, it was tough to sharpen at first which certainly surprised me. But now, I like it like it yes I do...:D

I blame this thread for my latest situation. I received this knife for Christmas. I took it out of the tube, looked it over, then put it back in the tube where it has remained until now. I have an odd "single blade" anxiety. I'm just used to a multi-bladed knife and feel ill at ease with just a single, even though when I do carry a multi I primarily only use one blade.
So I have been experimenting with single blade knives, and my Esky Zulu made the transition much easier. However, it's a fairly large-ish knife for my needs, and the other day at the mall I felt rather self-conscious and silly pulling out this large (to me) folder just to snip the tag off my wife's new flip-flops. It was then that I remembered this little gem--
We'll see how it does...

I finally got off my duff and mounted the new display cases...
(please excuse the crappy photos, the light in the bedroom isn't very good...)

Rose Petals (bottom right of the left case) has been my constant pocket companion as of late...

I was thinking that too until I reread that line above

The 25's snub nosed spear blade is my preferred main and that's a beauty you have there, Will. You summed up my EO feelings very well by the way :)

The 25's are a lot more knife than you realise; very small and unimposing to look at but actually fills the three fingers quite nicely when you need to cut something. Great choice too, I love the thrice threaded bolster and was very glad that Mr Gunstock reintroduced it here, along with a nicely stamped blade, it was a very well done SFO.

Speaking of which; I sort of cashed in my chips as far as recent US transactions go and had everything mailed over in one. Here are the 25's from the package (awful rushed phone pics btw, my apologies):

This Bocote has exquisite figuring

Northern Lights from 2008

smooth banana peel from 2009

another 2012 - that has been long in the looking for, I have a full set of tidioutes, and am 5 knives away from a full Northfield lineup too, then I'll have the whole shebang!

And finally one I was quite excited about; the stainless 25s aren't easy to find and this popped up on the exchange

Despite my comments on the EO feature, I like this early Tidioute for its bone and corset shield. Gets used too:thumbup:

Thanks for posting that shot WP. I've been eyeing that same Gerstner chest. Didn't know the drawers were so short! Looks like a snug fit front to back for those 25's. I thought I'd be able to put 3.5" knives in there, but it may be exclusively for WLST's and peanuts now (and perhaps a 14 : )
