GEC 25s - Gots 'em?

Thanks, that's good as most of the SFOs are now beyond my reach due to intl.shipping costs/restrictions. Very often, I like the simplicity of the Tidoiute style for certain knives. Something to look forward to now!

I almost always like the Tidioute versions better. There are some exceptions, but usually, the standard nail nick is all I want. I really like the micarta and the woods on these 25s. I've found the sawcut wanting. The lines on these 25s are sleek and classy. The sawcut seems too rustic by comparison. Loved the snakewood and the blackwood. I'm looking forward to seeing the ironwood on this batch's SFO. I can't even guess how I will like the acrylic. Time will tell. Been loving these last two months of GEC production, though. :)

Hoping I got my reservation in for the red saw cut Northfield in time. If not, I may just have to pick up the OD Green. It would indeed be a winner in stainless (w/EZ Open sheepsfoot blade option?). It is still mighty handsome as is though.
The calls for more GEC stainless runs seem strong. I know I want more of it. It's too bad that GEC doesn't do more. I agree that a stainless #25 would be great! And I love the idea of a sheepsfoot in such a small knife, so we're on the same page, olywa. My only small beef with the sheepsfoot version of the #25 is that, when closed, the spine of the blade seems to be high, sticking out of the frame. A small thing, I know, when when this is supposed to be a "watchpocket" barlow, I feel like it matters. I wanted the sheep originally (in the last run), but was put off enough by the high riding spine that I sold it and got a spear instead. Oh well, we're pretty spoiled collecting traditionals if this is my largest gripe. :D

Does anyone else think the ivory acrylic looks whole lot like linen micarta? There is a pattern in it like layered micarta or g10. Didn't think acrylic would have that.

I agree but those might be tooling marks. In photo number 3/57 it looks much smoother.

GEC did an ivory acrylic on the #66 pattern awhile back. The pictures of those look much different than the 25s.

I think they did an ivory acrylic on a congress as well. They definitely look more ivory on this run, I actually really like it, but I have to overcome my distaste for acrylics in general...

New production pics are up. I applaud the lack of blade etch on the tidioutes.

I cannot decide which Tidioute to go for. The new ivory acrylic seems very special, classy, and unique. Then jigged golden rod is not unique at all, but I have to say it looks sharp. Will the pioneer bone be smooth or rough? It really compliments the ivory. How do the rest of you feel about these three options?

FWIW, I noticed that the production schedule does not say ivory acrylic. Rather, it's says "new ivory acrylic." Perhaps they really mean it! :)

Yes, it has to be a new attempt at ivory. in some photos it looks very white, in others it looks more yellowed. I am going to reward them for trying new things and buy one because it is so unique. It will make a nice addition to my small collection, and the other Tidioutes look sort of boring. Do you think there will be more 25's in this run, (I would love an ez open) or do you think this is it?

Don't think there will be an EZ-Open run, they've been very frequently done before, but with GEC you never can tell:D

What I can be sure of is there'll be no Drop-Points :( and this is totally bizarre given that it's the best blade for this frame . I can only assume that the blade presents production problems.
