GEC 25s - Gots 'em?

i just caught a glance before they apparently sold out, but the northwoods little bays seemed to be in the $160 to $170 range. And they were not expensive materials, just camel bone and micarta! I could have got one, but would never pay that kind of price gouging. I even think the logo and lettering looks amateurish. It is all hype.

If something sells out instantaneously, it's not priced high enough. Doesn't matter what the product is at all. The fact that dealers continue to sell TC/NF/Northwood knives at roughly the same price run after run shows that they care more about the customer than their pocket book. If I had the keys to the TC/NF/Northwoods piggy bank, we might see exactly how much people are willing to pay. That's how capitalism works. You raise the price until people stop buying.

I think these look the best out of the entire run.. including the Northwoods.

What's that little fixed blade blank?

No offense intended, but

"You raise the price until people stop buying"

sounds like a terrible idea.

As a consumer, eventually, yes. As a business owner, you find a sweet spot. When people stop buying, drop the price. If all you have to do is sell 500 pieces of very high demand product, it's not hard to do. When you make hundreds of thousands of pieces of product, it's more difficult. Charlie or Mike or Derrick could all charge $400/piece for their 500 piece runs of TC/NF/Northwoods and more than likely, they will sell every one. You might not like it, but as a business owner, why wouldn't they? They chose to stick around the $100-150 mark because they care about and appreciate their core customer base. I've seen multiple posts by either Mike or Derrick in reference to the frustration of seeing flippers on auction sites selling for 3x to 4x the price they were charging. If they didn't care about their customers, they either: A) wouldn't care what flippers charge or B) charge what flippers charge in the first place.

Sorry, Pertinux. I didn't get a chance to see any of the Northfields or Northwoods 25s, but I really liked the threaded bolster Tidioutes. I did catch a teaser pick of clip point denim Northwoods that I think will look killer.

Please discuss the knives. Not the buying process.

I thought the Denim Micarta looked Amazing :cool: I'll be keeping a close eye one the Exchange. There's always a few with buyer's remorse and I'll be happy to help one out. ;) :D

GEC has a lot of photos on their site.

As for the Northwoods, this is the one I managed to secure. What can I say? I am apparently a sucker unusual cover materials and forge scales.

(... and teeny tiny clip points!)

That is a beauty! I don't think I could pass that one up!

Are you sure? The tang and swedge on the blank don't seem to match...

No, not sure. Just the first thing I thought of. Maybe it's something from their kitchen knife sets? - don't know... or maybe you pointed out something new coming...

It's a shorter blade with a thicker chord, defined swedge, and the tang placement looks like a paring knife to me. We shall see, but a new mystery appears!

I'm going to be sad if it's just some prototype that an employee uses to make new knives.

Mine came today! 25 OD Green Linen Micarta. Absolute beauty. I bought a Hawthorne Jack earlier this year, but this is my first Tidioute, and my first Barlow - a pattern I've wanted since I discovered the Porch. It's tremendous. So happy.

Here's a picture:

Oh. Did I mention I also got a leather slip for it? The slip is also beautifully made and feels great. And now I can't get the blasted knife out again!!! :D Oh well, I'll figure it out. Thanks, @knifeswapper, for selling me these!
