Received my Yellow Rose 35 today and you all will not be disappointed. Absolutely beautiful with the smooth yellow bone and the rose shield. My wife said it smells funny due to the excess oil, but I told her that is a good thing due to this being a carbon blade and can never be too careful.Cleaned up real nice.
One question for you guys who have a Churchill already. The secondary blade closes with a nice snap like all my other blades on my Great Eastern's. The large clip point I need to help in and it doesn't snap close. This is not a problem but I was surprised just because of what I am used to from GEC. With their Q.A. I bet it's designed to close in this fashion. Just curious and it is by no means a negative. Absolutely love this knife!
TV, this is not unheard of with GEC or any maker of new traditional folding knives. In the process of manufacture and machining debris and small metal shavings or chips can get lodged in the pivot area of the blade. This happened recently to me on the Northwoods Lincoln Jack I got. The single blade clip point would not close at all without being pushed closed. Solution? It needs to be cleaned out. Use and a mild detergent or other cleaning solution and brush and wash out that pivot area. I use Dawn detergent and a old tooth brush and then irrigate and flood the pivot with warm water and then shoot out with compressed air. Then oil the joint with your favorite oil I use Quick Release and then work the blade back forth a hundred times or so and see if that improves the snap closed. BTW my Lincoln Jack closes with a nice snap now after this cleaning process. This has happened on several new GEC folders I have got over the last few years. You may see small pieces of brass or other metal come out during this process and then means it is workingGood Luck!

Cloud shield... that's the one for me!
If you’re squeamish about water on a carbon steel blade, flushing the joint with a light oil and working the pivot should clear it up.
Mine had the exact same weakness upon closing with the main blade. I put dish detergent into the pivot and worked it about 30 times then flushed with hot water. Its much better now and has a nice snap. Before initially posting I prophylaxed with the dawn, brush, and dried with the compressor but did not yet give the blade a workout. I applied some daiwa reel oil and opened and closed about 50 or so times and it seemed to get a little snappier when closing. I bet it will get better with time. Still not close to the snappiness of the secondary blade and not near as bad as Luger1952's Lincoln Jack. It will be fine I think and I really like the slim design of this knife, and the yellow rose is such a beauty. Thanks again for the help! Hope you folks enjoy the yellow bone as much as I do.
My first GEC!

The blade centering on this pattern is phenomenal. It looks like the blades should be touching each other and the liners but somehow there is a nearly imperceptible clearance. I'm glad to see that this companies products live up to the hype!

I was anticipating those after all I've read about them and was pleasantly surprised to find them quite satisfactory.solphilos It looks a treat and no sunk pins like you get on some GECs notably wood ones![]()
