GEC #35 Churchill Thread

I finally got around to getting another 35. Intended to be a user, but it's just so pretty.

That is handsome. Great color/swirls..

.I should grab another while their still up.

Not to beat a dead horse if it's been brought up many times, but are pulls/snap of the main clip on all the Churchill's relatively weak?? I've got one in clawed couger bone recently, and I love the look and the pattern itself, but the main clip has very little snap, and comes out of the open position with little effort.. Was just curious if that was the design, or if I had a dud.

Not a dud. The majority of the Churchills are like that. Some people have reported "normal" snap on the Clip blade but only a few. I bought six Churchills and five of them were as you describe.

#35 in Hummingbird acrylic is my most carried. The main was a little weak and sluggish when it arrived.

After a few flushes w/ mineral oil and working the action it is much better. What I would describe as an "easy" open and a "polite, indoor" snap. Still with positive, confidence feel and sound on open and close, liken to a door closing on a fine automobile.

Then #35 is fast becoming a favorite of mine. Would love to see a similar size and blade config in a sleeve board.

That's a good way of describing it. The pull is weaker than most of my traditionals of comparable size, but that also has me carrying it more often. I do like a stronger pull, but the action is so smooth and the snap so crisp and satisfying that I really don't mind this one being a bit lighter. I wouldn't even go so far as to call it weak, just 'easier'.

My experience is similar. I tend to prefer a stronger pull also but there is something refreshing about blades that are smooth and easy to open.

I like the smooth action and subdued snap. It isn’t lazy or weak, just quiet—like a really nice detent, if you’ll pardon my modern knife analogy.

.
Love it Ron! Make sure and carry it on Saint Patty's Day. :D
Thanks! :) I will add it to my Saint Patty's Day carries. I will always carry the #56 Green Jigged Dogleg that my late friend Bob the BigBiscuit gifted me! I don't think he would mind if I added it a little company! :)

Thats a beauty, Half/Stop. Love the sheild!
Thanks for the compliment! :)
