GEC #35 Churchill Thread

Green is the symbol of life too

Earlier talk about the Churchill's pull and W&T . This is because it aint have no stinking halfstops:D Another reason I like Pen type patterns so much:cool: Mine has loud snap and very smooth opening, just right.
The lack of half-stops is why this one finds its way in my pocket so much. Half-stops, the world would be a happier, snappier place without them :D

Travman Travman You have two very nice 35's there my friend! Your Harness Jack 10 has some beautiful Ebony! They are so classy with that centered bar shield. The Smooth Emerald Green goes without saying. I think it will be a highly sought after classic for years to come! :)

I'm not totally late to the Churchill party as I had a couple of Yellow Roses. One for me and one for a son. The ebony kept calling to me but either I kept missing them or I was hesitant. In any event, there really isn't anything left to say about the usefulness of the pattern but I will say that a minimalist ebony Tidioute is about as classic as it gets. Ebony 35 Churchill alone and with a Yellow Rose.

...and my second one from the recent GEC Rendezvous.View attachment 966088

Well, since we’re showing off the emerald greens, here’s my Rendezvous score.

Gentleman (or scoundrels, if you prefer), I am going to pull a page out of GT's book and say that I am positively "green" with envy over these Emerald Churchills. They took an excellent pattern/blade combo and classed it up with some beautiful smooth bone and an excellent shield. Very fine additions.

If I had been able to attend the Rendezvous like I had originally planned, I would have been happy with just taking this one back home with me. What a delightful rendition of what I deem a GEC favorite of mine.

My ebony Churchill is one of my favorite knives. I am so glad you could land one, Alan. Terrific pictures too!

Only planned on the Green Banana Bone :D

Then GEC released the Hummingbird (w/satin blades ) and I took the staple out of my wallet ;)

Certainly should have picked up the Gabon Ebony while available (instead of the h-bird!)

I'll just suffer in silence ;)

I've only had the ebony 35 for two days but I'd like to share my thoughts on it. I'll cut to the chase and give you my conclusion and then back it up with some cold hard facts. "I Hate This Knife"

1. 3 3/4" closed is ideal for me.
2. An unadorned ebony covered knife is classic
3. I like a nice broad clip point.
4. I usually carry at least one other knife so that I have a smaller blade for detail work.
5. Of course it should be well made and aesthetically pleasing.
6. It should be easy to maintain.

It's obvious that my Churchill checks all these boxes. So, why the hate? What am I going to do with all those wonderful knives I already own? Keep an eye out. Coming soon to a thread near you. It's GAW time.

Those emerald green ones from the rendezvous! I would have picked a Churchill up for sure if those were an option. Already love my forum 35, kept away from the Churchill convincing myself I don’t need it, plus not sure about comfort of the secondary but in that green bone...

Haha..It really is a great knife and quite the pocket bully..w/ a knack for holding the high ground. A bunch of my regulars have been collecting dust and giving me dirty looks...I try not to make eye contact.

Lololol !!!
They even bully each other for pocket time! As nice as it is, this poor red bone Churchill hasn't see the light of day since a certain unnamed (for fear of retribution) and exceptionally tough ebony showed up here last November.:confused:;)

Right you are Ickythump, hoodlums at best... my ebony came dressed in a tiny black leather jacket. The red bone Churchill is single spring but two blades having a sheepfoot on the opposite end from the main. GEC did good with the 35s!

edited to explain blade configuration more accurately
