GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Awesome, looking good. Curious, did they replace anything besides the covers and pins?

Nope, just new covers (pins? Not sure if those got re-used). It was Old Red saw cut bone originally, but it fell on my tile floor and cracked the mark side scale on July 4th. I sent it to GEC hoping to have the same color scales, but Old Red was just not available. Chris at GEC let me select from this current run of 77's for my replacement scales. I'm very happy with the Copperhead scales though and to have my all-time favorite EDC back.

Well I think that was a win win for you. Turned out very nice. Also gives us an up close sneak peak at the Copperhead's coming.

Good point, though I assume the rest will be hitting the Post Offices for the rest also? I don't know whether they shipped mine out any sooner than the others - but then again I'm the only one with one in hand at the moment.

It looks great! GEC is second to none, making production knives. I too have always had great service there - Chris is so nice and accommodating.

The 2016 SFO CK 77's leave the 28th, according to my email.

She's back! Very nice! A great color and I'm pleased with GEC's repair services.

Very Nice Jeff:cool::thumbup: I look forward to those covers aging like your old red sawcuts.

On Weds it will be one year ago since my spear/coping 77 arrived. For me it's a grail knife and just fits all the little things I like in a pocket knife. I'm sure happy to have it back. The bolsters and springs got a complementary polishing in the process. :)

Beautiful job on these Mike. Thanks for your efforts!
The new Bone Canvas Micarta is wonderful! It takes a finish much better than some other Micartas. Not chalky at all. Goes well with the polished bolster on this run. I hope to see more of it in the future. Great color on all 3 of the others too!
The new Clip is a winner as well! Perfectly proportioned.
Again, well done!

It is hard to pick. Today, I think my favorite is the Micarta. The green is much more subtle in person. Somehow the camera seems to pick up the florescent green and yellows, but in person (indoors) its more dull green like a pickle.
Good luck on delivery today, cbr!

I agree about the green. Not as bright in person, I think it will make those who were hoping for a more Olive tone happy.

My Copperhead came today. It's my first NF Barlow, and I've been feeling strangely guilty about buying it, since I don't 'need' another single clip blade knife. But it sure is nice.

I thought I'd take a picture along with the #77 Forum knife for a side by side comparison of the new "pinchable" clip blade. I'm not sure that I like it better, but then again I haven't cut anything with it yet. :)

I was lucky enough to reserve these two... one for me and one a gift for my friend, who likes them both but doesn't know one is for him yet. However, I am having the hardest time deciding which to keep. Copperhead is perfectly traditional and beautiful... Spring Green is cool, unique, more variety for collection.

The bolster stamp on the green looks deeper and nicer too if that helps you make up your mind at all lol.

Dispatch, the green one is something special.
All I can imagine is a dark pine hollow, a small campfire and a canvas tent. I'm really liking them! Of course I didn't reserve one so I get to watch!

Good luck with your choice!

Mine won't be here until Monday but I really like the ability to "pinch" the blade for opening. Thanks for the comparison shot of the old and new style blades
