GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

So I guess it's just the elderberry bone that has yet to make an appearance on the GEC site?

Waiting for these is definitely giving me the "will Christmas ever get here" feeling I recall from childhood.
Not yet, but they have a couple more pictures up on the what's in production page.

Yeah, there is certainly pink happening...

I am thankful, too! I have my name down for a sawcut, and I had most wanted an ironwood. However, these pictures may be convincing me that sawcut will prove to be my favorite of any of the four covers.

Ok, I was confused as to what was sawcut and what was elderberry. I guess the question is, then, how long they need to wrap everything up. Certainly there is a GEC employee that reads our threads and can clue us in ;)
No one knows that for sure. That's part of the fun. Patience is required.
It will be soon!!

Given the fact that they've shown three of the four covers over the past three weeks, I'd guess they should be done by the end of next week at the soonest?

The lot might even be sent off to Mike by the end of this week, seeing that there are pics of the Elderberry in polishing. The anticipation is quite palpable though.

Here is another pic of the Elderberry. This shot makes the lighter hued ones look a bit more pleasing. It is all subjective however, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The camel bones look fantastic, I lucked out and have a reservation for one. There will be quite a variety in color due to the way camel bone takes dye. The dark one looks great but so does the one with varying hues.

Actually the "smooth rose" I was going for was characterized by lots of light patches and highlights - a bit like an appaloosa. That is what most SR versions I have handled had.
But these did turn out more red than elderberry - don't really understand what went awry, but they look to be dandy's anyway.

I was picturing more dark purple or blue in the elderberry, but I do like the variation in the red. Didn't Queen have a handle material a lot like this? Think I remember seeing it in their catalog archives.

Lots of variation in one picture! Those all look good

I'd be happy with any of those except maybe the bottom one. That has a little more white than looks good to my eye.
