GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Great pics and a nice set Luger1952. GEC did a really nice job on those pins! to steal a line from Ford Motor Co. "At G.E.C. Q is J one". Only, G.E.C. really means it!
I got mine today and they are gorgeous! I went ALL sheepfoot--all five available handle materials. I think this is among some of the best work GEC has turned out it terms of F and F. All five of these are very sharp out of the box. The blades are centered, the walk and talk is just about perfect in my view, the scale material in every case is nicely fitted and the material transitions are near flawless. And finally they are pinchable which someone else said, I too like. Here are a couple of quick pictures

All I can say is I can't stop admiring it. It's been in my pocket since I unwrapped it at the Post Office. It's truly a beautiful knife.

Well done GEC!!!

Always love your enthusiasm Jeff !!!:D:D:D

Nice pictures everyone ! :)

Received my African Blackwood clip blade yesterday and love it. Slim, elegant, and feels great in the hand. My only gripe is typical of many of my GEC's: the pull is about an 8+ and difficult for my hands. As much as I like the look of the long pull and swedge I wish the pull were further down the blade to give it a bit more leverage.

Finally got around to snapping some pix of mine:

I don't like the bone scales as much as I thought I would (construction is still first-rate). However, I'm blown away by the depth and character of the Blackwood scales! Well-done, GEC!

The blackwood is stunning. I'm so glad I ordered one.

I got mine yesterday. I originally intended to carry the blackwood and keep the old tan new but I love the sawcut old tan more than I thought I would. I am going to carry that one instead. I suppose I'll either keep the blackwood new in tube or use it as tradebait.

Everyone is posting excellent photos. They all look very nice. I've carried my Old Tan sheepfoot since I opened the box yesterday! The slimmer form factor is perfect. I keep regretting I didn't buy into the blackwood. I don't know what I was thinking! :(

Mail lady was very good to me today. Two beautiful 77 Barlows and a VERY elusive little 25.

Awesome pics everyone. Keep em' coming. I got on the brass liner list so I will not have mine until the very end. Cannot wait.

Filed down the kick, gaining much needed room for a good sharpening and stropping. This was the sharpest GEC I've gotten out of the tube but now it's mirror edged and can push cut paper. These are sweet. Now I need one with a cap lifter, please? :foot:

Can you post a pic of the knife closed after you filed the kick? I'm still deciding whether or not to file mine down and a pic would help sway me, I think.

It sits right at 3/32" deeper now. Makes all the difference IMO.

I thank Mike & GEC for this fabulous SFO run. My first Barlows!

These are my favorite.

WARNING: Not for wimps!

A strong snap...don't get bitten.

Really liking these knives. First rate construction with a firm pull with great snap. Trying to decide who is going in the pocket??

This one is still my favorite... I made it a point to cut something last night just to get it over with... GOTTA carry this one!

That red saw-cut bone is AWESOME! Tell you what if I knew it would be that dark burgundy color like that I'd have gone for the red. I love this 77 Sheepfoot, it's been with me since the moment it arrived. This one's gonna see lots of pocket time
