GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Rob, I'm no expert on terminology, but since a knife without an endcap is called a bare head, the rounded end could be called the head. I've always called the trough the blade folds into the blade well.

Just received my African black wood and Old Tan sheepfoot and all I can say is WOW! The fit and finish are spot on, dead center blade centering, and walk and talk that is music to my ears. I think the old tan will be my EDC and will carry the blackwood for more black tie occasions:D.

My tan sawcut barlow arrived in the mail today. These are really nice knives! Thankfully, we have Mike Latham, who is willing to take the risks and invest his capital to make it possible for us to have these beautiful knives.

Thank you, Mr. Latham!

My four arrived today, all very nice! I threw in a comparison pic of the thickness next to the last run of two blade 77's.

Awesome pics everyone! I received my 4 Barlows today, but I won't be home until Sunday to check them out...I'm living vicariously through you guys :D

Here is a quick photo of my sheep next to my original pioneer bone and my 3 newest 77 singles.

I'm uncertain of the proper terminology but these single blades have a much "crisper" and "cleaner" pull and release in all 3 positions than my original 77 that feels just a hair lazy in comparison I spent some time cleaning out my pioneer bone joints which helped but the latest batch does not feel like it needs anything. Super precise feeling. BTW, the color of the photo looks a bit off and the tan is not really quite that dark. Phenomenal job!

All I can say is I can't stop admiring it. It's been in my pocket since I unwrapped it at the Post Office. It's truly a beautiful knife.

Well done GEC!!!

All I got in the mail today was a failure to deliver slip. Gonna have to head to the PO bright and early tomorrow. They all look great everybody!

I have never seen such an enthusiastic response to a run of knives. These are obviously an outta the park home run for both CollectorKnives and GEC.
This is a Golden Era for traditional knife lovers and we are here for it. Very neat !

I hope my autumn bone looks as good as this one. Looks like I'm going to have to wait another week. :(

All of these 77's look outstanding. Thanks for posting pics everyone!

Got mine and they are beautiful, I will post pictures as soon as I figure out how Lol...

Mike, I sent you an email but I want to say publicly what class act you and your company are! Many thanks.

I was concerned when I saw how high the sheepsfoot would be, but it's perfectly pinchable. I doubt I drop it lower at all. Very cool knives all around. My only regret was that I didn't pick up a red bone clip.

Agreed i was worried about the sheepsfoot but it's perfect.

They're as nice as they look. Excellence all around... fit/finish/feel/walk/talk. Utterly impressive.

Big THANKS to Mike Latham for bringing these to us. Mike & GEC are a pretty darn good team!

Wow that's a nice line up! Well done.

Got them in the mail today! As I mentioned, the sheepfeet are perfectly pinchable. I'd call the clip a nailbreaker but I'm sure it'll loosen up a bit. Super happy with all three!
