GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Here are some pics to show the unusually fat stag on my clip blade. I never expected this, and I never expected to like it so much! Here it is compared to my 77 Blade Forums 2014 and my walnut 15 TC Barlow.

That's one advantage of the bare head design: you can have really fat stag scales without needing to grind off the gnarly goodness to fit to an end-cap. Very nice.

They arrived!!! Now I feel alive!!!
Impressions: I love them. The stag is amazing. The Tan is Old looking (I love it)... the Red saw cut, well it is what it is... stupendous. Feeling blessed.

Normally stag is not my favorite but that is awesome.
I wish I got one of those 77's, did manage a Blackwood Sheepsfoot and a red sawcut clip and can see why most are raving about these.

The 77 is a great size and nice balance too.
Plus they look good.

Nice set of sheep foot knives Todd!:thumbup::)

Mine are awaiting me in my mailbox on my arrival home from work. I can't wait! Pictures soon.................

Yes, I agree that fat stag works well on Barehead knives - with an end cap it gets ground off more creating the pregnant snake look:D:eek: It looks at home on a Barlow long bolstered type of knife too, moreover, fat stag on a single-blade knife offers great grip which is important. Tidy example indeed Dr. Scott:thumbup:

Regards, Will

Thanks for the positive feedback, fellas. You're right Will. That fat stag gives a great grip like a much bigger knife.

Congratulations on the new arrivals, Todd. You are assembling a beautiful collection of sheepfoot knives!

Geez I just can't get enough of these 77 Barlows! I keep hanging out in this thread admiring everyone's knives. Even after a solid week I'm still thrilled with my sheepfoot in blackwood!

Wow Todd, you did alright, those three were worth the wait!!! Good for you. Thanks for the pics. RS

Would anyone mind posting a comparison pic of the relative thicknesses of a sawcut Charlow alongside a sawcut Marlow...?:)

Thanks in advance:)

Sam

I have had these since last week. I finally got around today to opening all the tubes.
I wiped them all down good, oiled the joints and went out in the snow to take this photo.

Todd, Scott and Ron, WOW guys all nice!!!

Todd, PROTO on the blade---very cool!!!

Scott, I LOVE Stag and that Barlow you rec'd is AMAZING!!!

Ron, VERY nice pairs to draw to right there:thumbup:

Todd, you scored! Congrats. All are nice!
Ron, killer lineup you have there.

I only have one and I love it. Well actually something is waiting for me in the mailbox when I get home. :)

The autumn bone gave the Blackwood a rest today. Really enjoy the rounded and thin covers on these models, less blocky than the saw cut. Of course that means they are a little less "traditional" in that aspect as well.
