GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Perry, Bob and Harry thank you. Some see it as sacrilegious and I can appreciate ones right to think that but what would really be sacrilegious is for me not to carry and use it...the EO makes it way easier for me to do so:thumbup:

Can I pinch it open the stock way from the factory...yep. Can I pinch it open way easier and more comfortable this way...oh yeah:thumbup:

I'm in a similar boat Paul. Arthritis in both hands, knees and other joints. I can open an un-modded knife okay, but this change makes things so much easier. Especially in colder weather.

Here's my red sawcut EO. I know it doesn't float everyone's boat and I appreciate that but with partial paralysis in my left hand and the onset of Carpal tunnel in my right...it truly serves a useful purpose.

Please forgive the pictures:o

Man that looks great. It doesn't look like the red bone has white showing through after the mod like the old tan bone does.

Thank you Jake, the bone was white/pink after the grinding. I have a cherry wood furniture marker and that with a touch of red Sharpie blended the color really well:thumbup: The stain markers are permanent.

I picked up some of the same markers off the auction site that Paul uses. They do work nicely at blending the bone after cutting the EO notches. Thanks for the tip Paul.

Certainly Bob:thumbup: you mentioned opening in cold weather. I actually made the EO a wee bit bigger on my Red Sawcut for use with my Winter leather gloves on:o

Bob and Paul, I'm a huge admirer of the EO mods you guys have been doing, but I had no idea that it was more than an aesthetic thing.:eek:
Now I admire your work even more because of the functional improvement it provides you guys. (I also admire your "attitudes in the face of adversity"; when faced with an obstacle, rather than a "pity party", you find a way to get around it.:thumbup: Sort of "necessity is the mother of invention.")

I can testify first hand to how great Paul's EO mods are. Really does make the knife so much more of a joy to use and I feel like that is what truly matters to me. Bob yours look fantastic as well. Excellent work both of you.

I was very torn between the two, I love the old tan just as much. Could only buy one though.. this knife habit is getting crazy :D

amen to that brudda. Same thing I said about the scouts. And to think I got into traditionals to 'save' money on these knives rather than the modern ones. Barlows galore~

Steve, looks like there was another run or some left overs? I was a little surprised to see that too.

Aha! Now that you mention it, I seem to recall that they were shorted. Glad to see some more folks get these. Fantastic pattern all around!
