GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Scott your two answers contradict each other :O :D I'm going to remain strong with the single blade...for now.

You mean my statement that I chose the two bladed Barlow, and then my follow up suggesting that the solution is to get plenty of each?

Actually, I have committed to purchasing a single two blade in this next Fall '15 run. (There is still time to put in an order for more.) But this will be my fourth of the Northfield Barlows, and my first of the two bladed version. My other three are all singles. So I am slowly and carefully balancing out my collection. But, I am all in on the coping blades. So my 2 bladed Barlows may soon equal the single blades. :p

Has there been any word on whether the spears will be fat spears like on the 85 teardrops or slim spears like on the 15s?

I've been wondering that as well. I'm reallyyy hoping for the slim spears on the 15's. to keep it nice and slimline/proportionate to the handle. A bit more of a tip as well.

I'm torn... I like the look of both, and I've never had the fat spear. But the slim spears look great and would probably suit the knife a little better.

The fat spear is definitely good looking, I've one on a Ken Coats I just got in but it's easier to round the tip off if you're not careful/not as stabby ;) Great belly though.

Hard group to please. One week we are blasting those high-sittin' blades and the next week we are wanting some fatties. :)

Hey, "those high-sittin' blades" are fine with me. This PROTOTYPE Northfield 77 Timber Scribe Barlow has seen a lot of use since it arrived over a year ago.... use it every day and it's not been a problem.

I have never owned, needed, seen, or heard of a timber scribe before right now, but I guarantee you that Mike left money on the table by not doing a full run of these knives. What a beauty. Those things would have sold like hotcakes.

(I don't know how you did it, but that picture looks pretty realistic.)

I'm glad it went to use. Haven't heard back from my BroomCorn model or my CottonSampler model, but I'm sure they are all sittin high and workin hard.

Yes indeed Sean :D nice ol' hybrid between a fat spear and a slim one. I really will enjoy these very much. Really Great of the sample to show all positions to get a feel for how it'll feel in hand.
