GEC Abilene...did someone's wishes just come true?

I'm such a sucker for their Yellow Rose versions! The Yellow Bone with the Rose go so good together! Same with the Cocobolo versions with the Cloud shield those really float my boat too. :) Now if they would just do another run of the Rotten Banana Bone with the Cloud shield that is my favorite of all by far!

I thought y'all would like to see some comparison shots of the 81; here it is along side a 66 Calf Roper, a Case 6392, and a Case 6375:

The older 92's have always been a favorite of mine, but it looks like the honeymoon may be over. I'm going with the 81 for best overall due mainly to it's slimmer profile and flat ground blades.

It was good of you to post that picture Jack. It gives everyone a great comparison of the various sized stockman knives available. Like you, I like the older 92s and have several of them. The old (pre-2006) Schrade Old Timer 80T stockman knives are also 4" knives and fall nicely in with the Case 92s and these new Abilenes.

I may just give one of these new #81 knives a try. Anyway, great comparison picture and thanks again for providing that service to us.

I thought I'd be able to control myself and skip this one, but then I saw the yellow rose version and had to order it. FYI, collectorknives.net just put up the preorder link for 'em.

Just ordered a Copperhead Jigged Bone. It barely beat out the Osage.

I.Can.Not.Wait.

I've got an African Blackwood coming from Barry...
Still waiting to see these:

TOMORROW: STAG It's tomorrow today.

The Stag looks good to me, but I'm not a Stag fan. Too afraid I'll ruin it. I know it's all in my head, but I still think it looks nice.

I'm loving that Osage orange wood. Love the weathered look. Reminds me of a nicely patinad golden oak. Put a little tung oil on the handles to keep a slight sheen.

Just received mine from our friend Bob.

Great looking knife!

Now I'll begin working on A nice patina for the blades.QUOTE=Shaggy;12500588]GEC just posted new set-up knife on their site: the Abilene. It looks like a stockman built on the 4" #81 frame.[/QUOTE]

~ P. Thank you!

Now I'll have to think about this one. Have a African Blackwood coming...Do I also "NEED" a natural Stag to keep it company?

Yes, you do. I have a stag and bone ordered. I agree, my last natural stag #42 was awesome. That nice chocolatey stag like the lower #81 above. Thin yet gnarly as well.
