Gec built 2022 Remington Bullet knife

Love it Harry, looks like GEC did a great job recreating the Remington, if I had to nitpick I wish the would have stamped the bolsters as Remington did.

Thank you very much John . I expect the Cost Burden of the tooling to stamp Remington on the bolsters would have been carried by the company that is doing the SFO . IMO they look like Cheap Skates by not doing it . I wonder what the Closed Length is on those new ones . I just measured my Old One at 5.00 inches as compared to my GEC 97 of 4.75 inches . Either way , I expect that it will be a fine knife .
Stay well my friend .

i hope you get one or two Harry, I will live vicariously through you

I was recently a hair away from buying an antique grand daddy Barlow at an antique shop, now I’m glad I didn’t but stressed out I’m not going to make this drop lol
I don't know what brand or what price you turned down , but I expect that one day you will wish that you would have taken it .

The 21 bullet knife stayed in stock at several retailers for a good while, price might have played a role in that.

Price was for sure a factor, especially considering that was before a lot of dealers were raising their GEC prices across the board. That said, they did make a lot of them and it was a pattern that doesn't have the same broad appeal that a regular sized Barlow or Jack might.

Cautiously hopeful that they made these ones in a sizable number as well - there are a lot of Remington collectors that don't care whether it's GEC-made or not. If they are comparable in size to the 97, it's going to make a stellar knife and like Quiet Quiet mentioned, price will be secondary to me as well.

Great looking knife! I love its lines.

I don't know which ones were on the shelves for a long time but there were 2 varieties made . A Double Bladed released in late June and a Single Bladed one with Liner Lock released in early October and you are correct that neither was cheap . So there was a 3 month gap in there . I had the single blade Liner Lock reserved and had basically given up on it . Neither one was a Grandaddy Barlow , and if they had been ?????? They are good knives though .

The GEC made Remington Prospector was released on August 19 2021 and were in stock at least until December, probably longer...What was released in June, and what is this single blade knife?

Yeah, enquiring minds want to know. I hadn’t heard about the single blade liner lock either….

Even though the 21 stayed in stock a fairly long time and GEC made a lot of them you don't see a lot on the secondary market. GEC has done a good job on the Remington reproductions, the bone color is spot on, Remington had various shades of brown, light to dark. Really looking forward to these barlows.

Hey Gary.
Sure looks like a Camillus made knife!👍 I don't know about the year..
Thanks for the input, Mark. I think I only have 2 Camillus knives and one is a Chinese muskrat I picked up a Menard's, so I know nothing about characteristics of Camillus-made knives.

There's a thread in AAPK about Remington Bullet Knife reproductions that states that Camillus made all the authorized Bullet Knife reproductions from 1982 until Camillus bankruptcy in 2007, and that Bear and Sons made them for a while after that, followed by Buck (but I didn't notice specific dates for how long Bear & Sons and then Buck were involved).

When I google the knife, the consensus is 2009 for the year, but I haven't found a mention of a maker.

I thought maybe I could find out from the paperwork that came with the knife, but I searched the basement and my knife cupboard and found every box that I ever got a knife in EXCEPT the Remington box. Isn't that the way it always goes? :rolleyes:o_O🤓

I wonder if Harry is referring to the #23 Northfield Bullet Knife. That came in two variations - a single blade liner lock and a two-blade trapper.

That would make more sense. I have that 23 Redtail with liner lock. Beautiful knife.

agreed, if the price was reasonable, ill consider it. but otherwise, Ill be happy to see it reviewed first
