Gec bullnose

I have only been carrying my orange. Today I took out the natural Micarta. Edge had a chip in it and wasn't that sharp so I gave it a nice sharpening.

Yeah mine had a chip in it too.

I just went back and looked through this thread. Really really regret selling my canvas 71 now. Now I can't decide if I want to try and find one on the exchange or buy a nifebrite or really hunt for an old green canvas 71.

I would actually suggest the Denim.

It has a hand feel unlike any of the others. A bit more grippy, but almost suede like on the corners.
At least mine is. It is a Fantastic piece.

Im glad to know mine wasn't the only one with a chip.

Has anybody noticed the 2017 run seems to have slightly more belly near the tip than the 2015 run? I like it better. Should have got a denim too, those look SO good! Not a good pic, but here's my canvas with my trusty previous run OD. One of my favorite work knives ever.

The denim does look real nice. We'll see if one pops up.

Wow you're right I never noticed that before!

I also had the same issue, I think its from the blade hitting the back spring. It was in the same exact spot as the others have posted about.

Mmmmhhh! Don't know which is better the knife or the meat&veg, mouthwatering shot :D

I don't usually put any lanyard on my knives but I'm inspired to, problem is I'm incompetent at braiding stuff and I'd want maroon dark red leather, hard to find?
Another good aspect to Micarta is its innate toughness, these are not going to get messed up easily yet they look great. Additionally, when it gets damp or used it gets that rugged matte look-which you can remove with a bit of oil and restore it to factory, wonderful!

Regards, Will

I'll have to watch then, and on the other 2017 runs. Guess if that's the case it will sharpen out eventually?

Looks like the finisher left more belly down the length. That is leaving enough to rap for those that let it fall. I will recommend they take a bit more steel off the belly in finishing next time.

Same problem with all four of my 71s from this years run. They all hit the backspring where the pin goes through the spring, but its not a problem after sharpening.

Just finished sharpening my new #71 it took about 3 hours over 2 days. I took pics comparing the 2015 line to the 2017 line. The blade of the 2015 knife is noticably thinner out at the tip. Just an FYI, sorry for the pic quality and shadows.

Sometime you think all is lost and suddenly, an angel brings you hope again! :D
I ordered a burgundy micarta 71 on feb 11th and according to USPS it reached Paris on 14th:thumbup:, then flew back to Chicago:confused:. Then again the tracking said it was delivered last saturday.
As I was absent at that moment and found no advice in my letterbox I was quite puzzled and intended to go tomorrow at the PO to check whatever had happened to my parcel...
Now, this mid- afternoon, a blond lady rang at my door holding me a very recognizable little box, she's a neighbour living in the next building. The postman made a mistake and dropped it (the box, not the neighbour) in their parcel box where someone found it and just left it on top. She saw the box when she grabbed her mail and had the excellent idea to bring it to me! Finally all is ending well, I got my knife (perfect as was my 2015 OD, btw) and I met a lovely lady! :D
I'll post pictures when it stops raining.

That's one well traveled knife, Jolipapa! Glad to hear you finally received it.

@ Pergrin
Congrats Joli, glad it finally showed up! Looking forwards to those pics :)

Thank you, I'll make some as soon as weather permits, march has always a special weather we call giboulées, sudden shower then bright sun, great time for rainbow treasure hunters. Some say also that the devil beats his wife and gets his daughter married! :)
